Guest LavanderRabbit Posted May 13, 2016 Report Posted May 13, 2016 I've made it a point with my DD that I want to learn things or relearn things from public school. Since I can't afford to go to college, it's a good alternative to make sure my mind stays healthy and I don't lose anything. Now I've always loved the idea of being a little in Elementary school. Since my little age ranges from 4-12, I can identify as such and since I'm looking to learn and relearn, a lot of activities from these grades can be included in my little space. Has anyone else thought of this concept or are interested in it? 1
Witchling Posted May 14, 2016 Report Posted May 14, 2016 This is definitely an interesting concept to me! I think it would be very fun and rewarding to not only have a refresher course in some of the things you've already learned, but it would also be a great bonding activity to do things like "homework" with your caregiver, since littles who didn't or can't go to college don't get this experience any longer. There's also something about the idea of report cards, gold star stickers, and maybe even implementing a uniform during "school" time that is just so exciting for my little self, for real. 1
Sunny Posted May 14, 2016 Report Posted May 14, 2016 (edited) Yes! My Daddy sometimes gives me homework while he is at work. A couple of examples are properly researching and writing a page on why it's important to brush your teeth, or designing and writing a fact sheet for a made-up plant. It's awesome! Guest LavanderRabbit Posted May 14, 2016 Report Posted May 14, 2016 I kinda came up with this concept because I do a lot of personal study of the Occult and traditional practices of witchcraft (so does Daddy). It can also help me keep track to do my monthly things like Zines and such. I've never thought of a uniform because I only had to wear them in Middle school, but I do have a thing for traditional school uniforms in fashion. There are tons of workbooks and text books you can get on Amazon. Since we both suck at math we came to an agreement that it would only be History, English, Science, art, and a language. Because we will be living really close to the woods (And since I've only lived in urban areas my entire life) he is going to teach me plant and animal identification, how to forage, and gardening things as well. There may be more elective choices later on, but this is something we are planning. I've thought of the concept of a little's school before, but it would probably consist of online classes and he isn't down for that lol. Possibly a group can be created of Caregivers that are willing to teach things? 2
McHound Posted May 14, 2016 Report Posted May 14, 2016 (edited) I'd be down to be a teacher of a class! I'll keep my eyes and ears open, but if you could point me to any sign-up (when it becomes available) that'd be SWEET! Let me know what areas need to be filled up, where the biggest need/interest is (subjects), I'd just be happy to help out! Why does your caregiver not like the online concept? AND... If you suck at math, you should definitely take a refresher course. Edited May 14, 2016 by McHound

He doesn't want to stress over stuff and is currently working on a few other things to teach people in the area about stuff. He has thought about becoming a history teacher, but at the moment we are preoccupied and it's not something for this lifetime.
LoralieHaze Posted May 16, 2016 Report Posted May 16, 2016 I love this idea! I'm way too tired to go into details on why but yes, I am interested in it. Also have to 2nd what Witchling said about gold star stickers and uniforms. 1
