Mica Posted May 3, 2016 Report Posted May 3, 2016 (edited) Hi so I was wondering if anyone else was a picky eater here and to what extent? I did a quiz on buzzfeed for fun and I don't eat just under half of the things on the list and some of the things on there I only eat with exceptions, like I only brown bread if it's toasted, sandwiches have to be flattened a little before I eat them and I won't eat tuna unless it's mixed with . Here's the quiz if you want to try https://www.buzzfeed.com/robinedds/how-much-of-a-picky-eater-are-you?utm_term=.hq57zqpJB#.kmWLxKE1B Edited May 3, 2016 by Mica
Guest MachoPrincess Posted May 3, 2016 Report Posted May 3, 2016 It said that I'm the pickiest eater of all the picky eaters I didn't realize that I'm so picky hehe
LittleLoliPrincess Posted May 3, 2016 Report Posted May 3, 2016 You are the pickiest of ALL the picky eaters. So much so that people are often giving you shit about it. But that’s because they just don’t understand. What they call picky, you just call having high standards! Eat what you want, and don’t let anyone make you feel bad about it. I was expecting this
CrossedWires Posted May 4, 2016 Report Posted May 4, 2016 I'm a super picky eater and it's really embarrassing!! Like I can't go to people's houses because I worry that they'll make food for me and I won't be able to eat it T_T
Guest pearlpizza22 Posted May 4, 2016 Report Posted May 4, 2016 it said i wasnt afraid of putting things in my mouth that would make me sick and i started laughing so hard oh my
Guest LavanderRabbit Posted May 5, 2016 Report Posted May 5, 2016 I'm not really picky. I am particular about which foods I eat and deeming quality of said food. I refuse to eat Seafood that isn't fish, Snails, Veal, Lamb, Rabbit, Snake, Alligator, Kangaroo, Ostrich, turtle, (Especially!) Shark, Liver, Haggis, Rocky Mountain Oysters, Tongue, Head cheese, Pigs feet and other questionable meats. (Some of these sound rather exotic, but in a lot of places they are common) Though I will eat shrimp on occasion. As for fruits and vegetables I will eat almost any kind. Some have to be cooked or I wont consider putting it in my mouth (Mostly Mushrooms). I also generally wont put something in my mouth unless I know what it is.
Harley_Quinn Posted May 9, 2016 Report Posted May 9, 2016 I got 32/87 lol but the thing is I'll eat everything put in front of me cause daddy tells me too, doesn't mean I actually like it haha Majority of the time all I want are Dino nuggets French fries and fancy sauce or sandwiches. And mashed potatoes. That's it lol
sunchaser Posted May 10, 2016 Report Posted May 10, 2016 I'm not so picky. I don't like some things because of texture but I like flavors.
Mehreen Ismail Posted October 27, 2016 Report Posted October 27, 2016 I tried it for my son, he is also a picky eater. He avoids many of the items specified here. I have been browsing and finding many tips and methods for avoiding picky eating issues in my child. Do you guys have any suggestions?

Try giving him 1 new food with a couple of old favourites Mixing the new food into something so he cant tell I saw a story today where a lady wanted to get her son to eat fish as he would only each chicken so she crumbed the fish at home and told him it was a "special chicken". He ate it and liked it. Not sure how old your son is but giving him as many different foods as possible when first starting to give solids will help avoid having a picky eater
Guest Little_Galaxy Posted November 4, 2016 Report Posted November 4, 2016 (edited) (Edit: Oops! Just realized this thread is old and it was only reactivated to get advice on dealing with a picky eater. I hope you find answers to your questions! I don't have kids, so I won't be of any help. Sorry for intruding on the discussion. *quickly walks away with cheeks red from embarrassment*) I'm not a picky eater, I love trying new foods, but I found my test results amusing because it makes me sound like a terrible glutton! lol. 2/87 You’re definitely NOT a picky eater. Whatever the size, shape, smell, or texture; if it’s food, you’ll put it in your mouth. You probably look down your nose at anyone who IS a picky eater, but look on the bright side — you can eat anything they don’t finish! Wynardtage Posted November 4, 2016 Report Posted November 4, 2016 I tried it for my son, he is also a picky eater. He avoids many of the items specified here. I have been browsing and finding many tips and methods for avoiding picky eating issues in my child. Do you guys have any suggestions? You didn't say how old he was. At a younger age it helps to get them involved in the process of obtaining food (take them to the grocery store with you, show and explain the veggies and fruit to him), and also get them involved in cooking, like cutting the veggies or stuff like that. Kids are usually more prone to eat things they normally wouldn't when they helped cooking and preparing them. If he's older and not enjoying those activities anymore it will probably not help tho.
CrazyLittleBuggaBoo Posted November 5, 2016 Report Posted November 5, 2016 I am probably the pickyest non-picky eater ever! I will eat just about anything, but it has to be done a certain way or be a certain brand or I won't eat it. Like Kraft Mac and Cheese is the ONLY kind I eat! Yep only the blue box will due and I can tell the difference((my parents would buy other brands as a child use empty Kraft boxes trying to trick me, and it never worked once)) I love oatmeal((and like stuff)) but they HAVE to be made with MILK not nasty water, same with my Hot Cocoa need to be made with MILK or I won't enjoy it. I love tomatoes so much I'll eat a rare tomato but tomato soup is the grossest thing I've ever had!!! Milk is a no go unless its got flavoring like chocolate or strawberry and it need to taste nothing of milk. I won't eat burnt food, at all. And if it's got blackish parts at all I won't cause it tastes like nasty burntness... and etc...
winterchild Posted November 6, 2016 Report Posted November 6, 2016 You don't eat 24 out of 87 things on this list! You are a very picky eater! So much so that going out for dinner is a never ending round of “could I have [x] but without the [y]”. People give you shade, but what do people know!? Eat whatever you want, and politely turn your nose up at anything you DON’T want. Especially goat’s cheese. Ewwww. i thought, i am a good eater as Daddy always tells me! He nearly never has to order for me with that 'she wants [x] but without the [y]'.
Guest GrapeApe Posted November 6, 2016 Report Posted November 6, 2016 Chicken, rice, and bread. And some snacks. All I eat.

Not sure how old your son is but giving him as many different foods as possible when first starting to give solids will help avoid having a picky eater yeah, I need to give him some new food items along with the other food items that he love. I have been trying many things. I found some good tips from browsing some related sites. Also now I am providing a milk supplement for my kid. Actually in the beginning I was not sure of providing any milk supplements. I just asked one of my friend who is a paediatrician regarding this. So after her positive answer I started providing him the promise gold

He is very young only 7 years. So I think I can try the above tips suggested by you.
ddlgdude Posted November 12, 2016 Report Posted November 12, 2016 PIcky eater here Ive just recently started to get over my bad eating habits. I used to very much avoid veggies but as ive grown older, ive forced myself to eat them more and more. One of my weird habits though is to sniff food before eating it. I get a lot of slack for it but ive done it for so long that its hard to break
Guest Docotaco Posted November 19, 2016 Report Posted November 19, 2016 I can tell you I am a "picky eater". Seafood, Pasta, Potatoes and Fruits are my favorite things to eat and pretty much the only foods I'm willing to say yes to in an instant! If you give me a dish and say there's potatoes in it, I'll eat it! I can't tell you how many times my family has tricked me into eating foods with the "there's potatoes in it" trick. Cauliflower tho.. nop. I can tell the different so quick! I've stomped out of the room refusing to eat for 2 or 3 days with them. I can not and WILL NOT eat cauliflower.
kissingkitten Posted November 20, 2016 Report Posted November 20, 2016 Oooooo yesh! Must pass da sniff test. If it can't get pass da nose it doesn't get in da mouf.
