carmine Posted April 22, 2020 Report Posted April 22, 2020 INFP Turbulent probably I am beginning to get a little annoyed at the amount of mistyping. I got into typology like a decade ago, with interest waning on and off throughout. Initially, I was pretty naive and assumed people won't try to lie to themselves about something so essential as who they are. Not directed at anyone in particular, but after years and years of it, I am beginning to get somewhat annoyed at the amount of mistyping. It wasn't a big deal I thought, that you could just ignore it...but understanding the functions in-depth through Socionics has helped me spot those who could be potentially mistyped. It dilutes the actual type...that is what the issue is. And typing accurately is pretty important once you get into something like Socionics (inter-type relations). According to Keirsey, N/S split is apparently 25/75 but I see almost everyone typing as N, online or offline. Then there are a couple obvious Ns who mistype as S because "test said so." Anyways, I am not looking down on any type or anything, but yeah...after all these years of giving people the benefit of the doubt when it comes to them knowing who they are, I have begun to doubt it. 1

BB-Lizzie Posted May 13, 2020 Report Posted May 13, 2020 (edited) My personality type is INFP - T "The Mediator" Aww, this is what is says Mediator personalities are true idealists, always looking for the hint of good in even the worst of people and events, searching for ways to make things better. While they may be perceived as calm, reserved, or even shy, Mediators have an inner flame and passion that can truly shine. Comprising just 4% of the population, the risk of feeling misunderstood is unfortunately high for the Mediator personality type – but when they find like-minded people to spend their time with, the harmony they feel will be a fountain of joy and inspiration. Anyways, I am not looking down on any type or anything, but yeah...after all these years of giving people the benefit of the doubt when it comes to them knowing who they are, I have begun to doubt it. I've actually thought a lot about this, and it seems I'd imagine you're right about people not knowing who they are. It isn't necessarily a simple matter for one to distinguish how they actually behave as opposed to how they might like to think they behave. And I say this as someone who mistyped himself because certain responses appealed to me, even as they weren't authentic to me as an individual. My ex, too, had mistyped herself as an I rather than an E. As you said, not to disparage anyone, but it is important, and not simply for inter-type relations, but also, I'd say, for having a healthy relationship with oneself. It's disorienting to have a view of yourself and for it to not fit. Edited June 10, 2020 by Zwicky
