wolfdaddy Posted March 22, 2016 Report Posted March 22, 2016 Hey all! I'm interested in turning my reading of bedtime stories into a little itunes podcast and to that end I'd like to get some custom art made for an avatar and a banner before I take it live and promote it. At the moment I just have stuff I've pulled from the web at: https://soundcloud.com/wolfsbedtimestories But that gives you a vibe as to the project. Itunes has some specific requirements for the art associated with a podcast. I can fill you in on that. I'd like a basic theme of a wolf reading a storybook. If anyone here has good illustration/design skills would you mind please sending me a friend request and let me know where I can find your portfolio? Or link to it here? I'm happy to pay for this service. Thanks, Wolf.
Jemima Posted March 22, 2016 Report Posted March 22, 2016 I'm not a graphic designer (unless you count making guild and pet page layouts on neopets when I was 13 ) but was was kind of curious about where you stand when it comes to copyright with reading books in podcasts? I've loved your recordings so far, just don't want you to end up in trouble with some publishers or something. 1
ToraHime Posted March 22, 2016 Report Posted March 22, 2016 Oh hello , I do cute digital artwork as seen on my profile and can always take on new artistic challenges :3 1

This is a really valid concern as reading constitutes public performance and does infringe audio rights, whereas private reading such as reading to your child does not. There has even been some concern about if text to speech infringes rights too - the society of authors came out against Amazon when some kindle software first allowed this! Basically, I will have to stick to public domain work (I am in a life + 70 country). So Beatrix potter is now public domain, as is the little pink rose. Thankfully a lot of classic tales (I want to do the little prince soon) are out of copyright now. Ones that are in copyright I will just do for people as private requests and not publish. But yeah! You are thinking right

I was hoping you might be able to do some Enid Blyton, like maybe The Famous Five, but looks like they won't be public domain until at least 2038. Looking forward to more stories!

Looks like jemima puddleduck is wide open to record heh. I only found out the other day that the whole 'lashings of ginger beer' thing is apparently a myth and we can blame five go mad in Dorset for it.

I only found out the other day that the whole 'lashings of ginger beer' thing is apparently a myth and we can blame five go mad in Dorset for it. How could you tell I'm a Jemima Puddleduck fan? Hehe. No, when you mentioned Beatrix Potter, I remembered that I used to love Jemima Puddleduck, hence the username change. I still have my doll that I've had since I was born and named after her. She's a bit messy now, and all of her hair is stuck on top of her head in a big clump, but she's still my favourite. Didn't know that about the 'lashings of ginger beer' thing! My whole life has been a lie...
Guest Jennyanydots Posted March 27, 2016 Report Posted March 27, 2016 Wolfdaddy. I know a great graphics designer who is sympathetic to the CG/l dynamic. I cannot promise that he would be willing to help you out with this, but I will let him know you are looking for someone and ask about giving you his info (in private message), if you are still looking for someone.
Guest Jennyanydots Posted March 28, 2016 Report Posted March 28, 2016 He has instructed me to give you his website (duh, sorry): TomHarrisGraphics.Com Email:thgraphicsbiz@outlook.com
