MistersKitten Posted January 7, 2016 Report Posted January 7, 2016 Hiya! What do you all do to motivate yourself when you have to do big things like cooking and cleaning? It's really easy to distract myself with little things, and then the big things pile and pile and then meep!
SunnyEmpress Posted January 8, 2016 Report Posted January 8, 2016 This is def something I struggle with haha and I think most littles do too. I find it easier if I go into a mode thats like alright Im the parent of my little. So I mentally tell my inner Little alright we're gonna do this Big stuff for a while and then we can play! Or Ill take "Little breaks" if it's a long task. I know that I'll feel better if I take care of Big stuff too so I can relax more in little space bc those things arent in the back of my mind. 1
Little Miss Ambrosia Posted January 8, 2016 Report Posted January 8, 2016 Rewarding yourself for all the things you've done is good, set up a list of things you need to get finished, you can make it cute, colourful, sparkly, just so it's something pleasant to look at, and go get things checked off of it. When you're done with everything on the list, give yourself a reward, it could be colouring a picture, watching an episode of a cartoon you like, sweets, anything that indulges your littles side (it doesn't have to be necessarily little related, it could be doing your nails, putting on a facial, whatever thing you can think of) (: 1
DaddysLolita Posted January 8, 2016 Report Posted January 8, 2016 I usually just say hey, little B......we've gotta get this stuff done, and then later will be time for netflix, coloring, paci time, Daddy time. <3 1
MistersKitten Posted January 8, 2016 Author Report Posted January 8, 2016 Actually getting started is the biggest problem for me. A lot of the time I'll see the dishes or whatever and then OooOOOooOoo! There's another episode of Ruby Gloom I could watch!I'll have to try the rewards. That'll probably make it easier to keep going when I start. Most of the time it really wouldn't take that long if I would just keep up with it. I let it go and go, though, and then I have a day like today where I had to marathon deep clean for 4.5 hours. We're moving in a little under 2 weeks so it would take a lot of work even if I had kept things tip top all of the time, so add slacking to that, and it's just a beast! Tomorrow I have to clean out the car and give it a good vacuuming so that I can update the ad. I'm really not looking forward to that, but I'll put on my big girl panties, give myself the mom voice, and get it done! Afterwards maybe I'll snuggle my stuffie and watch Tangled.
Guest MyDaddyMyWorld Posted January 8, 2016 Report Posted January 8, 2016 I have three kids, two jobs, a house to run and I live away from my daddy. I just suck it up and get on with it lol. I have literally no other choice.
MistersKitten Posted January 8, 2016 Author Report Posted January 8, 2016 I have two kids, and I had work, but I'm lucky enough to live with my Daddy too. That sounds super tough. :/
pocket__kitten Posted January 8, 2016 Report Posted January 8, 2016 Star charts! Motivational charts of any sort! It feels so good to get a pretty sticker up on there for having achieved something that is otherwise undesirable. Motivate yourself by setting rewards after a certain amount of stars, or have a system where you can collect them and "cash them in" - kinda like pocket money! .. So yeah, sticker charts are definitely the best! 1
Guest MyDaddyMyWorld Posted January 8, 2016 Report Posted January 8, 2016 It can be really tough, but it's just grown up life. I'm lucky that my daddy isn't too far away and does all he can to guide and support me. So it's easier than it used to be before we met.
Guest littlemissragamuffin Posted January 8, 2016 Report Posted January 8, 2016 Easy cooking and cleaning aren't big things. They are chores. Everyone has chores. I put something one to "watch", more like background. Some nice cartoon/movie that I like but have seen a million times and can quote mosy if not the whole thing. Grab my binkie and get too it. Ok, so getting started and not being lazy is kinda hard. But if I don't do it, no one else will. I do have a really hard time doing the house work but that's mainly because nothing ever stays clean (I live with my mother and she trashes everything) and what's the point if things are going to look crappy again in less than 15mintues? But once I've got off the lazy bum of mine and started with one thing the others roll right on with it. Unless it's say, not house work and involves me calling/talking to random people. Doctors, Electric, Car stuff, etc. I'd like to get a chore chart though. A super cute one I can put stickers on and after so long "earn" a prize or reward.
MistersKitten Posted January 8, 2016 Author Report Posted January 8, 2016 Daddy and I talked about starting a chore chart or sticker chart once we move. I'm actually pretty excited about it. He sent me this reward system, and I think it looks like fun. http://hellosplendid.com/2014/10/princess-reward-system-a-princess-makeover-for-behavior.html 1

Very subtle hint hehe. These sorts of things are super exciting and motivational in my opinion. n_n
Guest littlemissragamuffin Posted January 9, 2016 Report Posted January 9, 2016 That reward system looks so cute and fun!
Guest Pouty Kitten Posted January 9, 2016 Report Posted January 9, 2016 I enjoy cooking and cleaning so there's really no motivation needed! In regards to other adult things, I just tell myself that I have to get through it.
Guest maliishka Posted January 10, 2016 Report Posted January 10, 2016 I have a planner for things I need to get done. It really helps me organize things and see what I need to prioritize. It is definitely hard some days to be motivated to do much, but I always tell myself I'll feel much better after getting done than if I didn't do any of it. Also giving yourself a little reward after doing something really important is always nice^^
