MissAnna Posted April 6 Report Posted April 6 Today has been a hard day here in Kentucky, my county and surrounding counties have been issued to evacuate. My road is flooded and I can't leave, I am trying to stay calm and be a big girl but I cant when it's so scary like this. I just want someone to step in and tell me it's going to be okay, that I am going to be okay. Because right now I am so scared, and I don't know what to do. I know I am supposed to be a big girl but I don't know how to right now. I hate feeling so small, it's so hard when the world seems to be crashing around you literally. I don't know how you Daddys and Mommy's stay calm during scary situations. In my head I keep telling myself Anna you are a big girl you can't be scared. But then I hold Mr Bunny and I am scared. I'm sorry for being scared but with the water rising, I'm trapped I can't go anywhere. And I know rationally I'm going to be okay but mentally I'm really scared. Thank you for listening to me and allowing me to tell you my fears. Until we meet again remember you matter, you are loved and you are worthy of being loved ❤️ 7 1

MissAnna Posted April 6 Author Report Posted April 6 Hey guys I'm okay, I am physically trapped by water. I still have power and I am staying dry and warm. They wanted me to try and make it to work today, there are literally wrecks up and down the road and semis lined up. There is no getting out my way. Am I okay? Yes. Am I scared? No I'm terrified but I have to be brave for my daughter. I will keep you all up to date on what's going on. I'm trying not to let fear get the best of me. So I am going to smile through my tears and keep swimming as Dory would say. Thank you all for sending your thoughts and prayers my way. Until meet again remember you matter, you loved and you are worthy of being loved 💖 2 6 1
Aikko Posted April 6 Report Posted April 6 Oh no! It’s perfectly normal to feel scared in such a situation. Fear is our body’s response to a situation that could potentially harm us and is intended to prompt action for survival. It absolutely sucks that you’re going through this. Hugs to you!!! In the meantime, while you still have power and are able to, charge whatever communication devices you have. Get candles and flashlights ready before dark falls. And if you’re in a flood zone, which it would appear since you’re roads flooded, get whatever necessities you want to keep dry to the highest point on your property. If your house is more than one story, top floor. If you have an attic, that. But most importantly, if the flood waters come in, make sure YOU are at the highest elevation. Your safety is paramount in a situation like this. Also, this is just where my brain goes as a FEMA disaster preparedness liaison, if you have bright colored clothes and spray paint, make sure they’re accessible. Flood waters turn everything, including houses and roofs, a drab shadeless grey or brown, and seeing a person trapped is often difficult for boats and copters, so making yourself stand out should you need a rescue is a good idea. None of this is intended to scare you, in fact, the exact opposite. Sometimes things become less scary the better prepared for the worst case scenario you are. Again, I’m hoping and praying the best case scenario and the flood waters retreat! But if not, I pray for your safety, mental peace and strength for you. 💜💜💜💜 please let me know if you need anything!!! 3
