Quilting a bag has anyone done this?

Story time. I have a backpack that I take with me to places but its so well backpack it's chunky and not good for the "only a few items" kind of day so I found this bag: http://www.hottopic.com/product/dc-comics-batman-harley-quinn-logo-hobo-bag/10244395.html#start=31However not only is it sold out but it's expensive as heck for my no job working at the library for my mom pay I get.  I then stumbled upon this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l8Mt5jFbk1Q which made me go "PERFECT!"

 

So now the delema and why I want to ask if anyone else has done this

how do you chose what fabrics to use?

Espically as a little I'm having a hard time decideing how "muture" I want this bag or even what fandom to do it in

so many choices advice?

Looks like a pretty easy bag. I've sewn a few purses for myself before. I normally find 1 fabric that I love and just have to have as my main one then find coordinates. I found one before that was a purple multi animal print that i paired with a few solid colors so my print popped.

 

What were some of your ideas?
