As humans, we often feel lonely or wish to talk to others, spend time with them, or simply enjoy their company.

Additionally, making friends is important because friends provide support, companionship, and joy in life. They help us grow, share experiences, and help deal with challenges, making life more fulfilling, meaningful, and fun.

Here are some seven simple steps for making new friends:

1. Bloom Where You're Planted
It’s easiest to make new friends in your immediate surroundings. Look for opportunities in your neighborhood, workplace, or school. For example, say hi to your neighbor while gardening or strike up a conversation with a colleague during lunch.

2. Take Initiative
Put yourself out there and make the first move. Say hello, send a text, or ask someone to meet for coffee. For example, if you notice someone enjoying the same book as you at the library, strike up a conversation about it.

3. Be a Friend to Make a Friend
Friendship grows when you show kindness and generosity. Be approachable and offer your time or help.
- Take a genuine interest in others. For instance, ask about their family or hobbies.
- Compliment them sincerely, such as saying, “You have a great sense of style!”
- Be an active listener by nodding or responding thoughtfully when they talk.

4. Find Common Ground
Shared interests or experiences create connections. Be open about your hobbies, passions, or favorite activities. For example, if you both love hiking, suggest going on a trail together.

5. Start Small and Invest in Connections
Focus on two or three people you’d like to develop a deeper friendship with. Spend time regularly with them. For instance, invite them for a movie night or check in with a quick call.

6. Accept Invitations and Get Involved
Say yes to invitations, even if they’re outside your comfort zone, and join groups or activities that interest you. For example, join a yoga class, a book club, or a local volunteer project.

7. Be Patient and Consistent
Building trust and friendships takes time. Stay consistent in reaching out and being present. For example, send a quick “thinking of you” text or suggest catching up over coffee to maintain the connection.

Feel free to talk about it on this group or reach out to anyone of us that are available to DM. Best of luck!
