Following users on this site

I must admit that I am a bit confused about the practice of following a user. I have had several people request to follow me and I've gladly accepted but was operating under the impression that they might actually want to chat. Not one has reached out. I'm not upset, just a bit confused as to why someone would choose follow another user with no intention of actually talking to them?

If someone could clarify this thought process I would appreciate it.

Its a little confusing i had to reach out to the admin to ask the same thing. You both have to be following each other in order to chat.

As Sammykins stated we use a double follow protocol before messaging is open.

Some people don't mind who follows them but are more selective about who they message or get messaged by so this adds a safety buffer.

So if they followed you and you want to message you need to send them a follow request also. Once both are accepted you can message away.
