Juju Posted November 9, 2024 Report Posted November 9, 2024 (edited) Hi Everyone! I'm creating and adding to my Bucket List and one of the things I wanna do is travel. I would love to go to each state in the US and visit the place that would represent that state the best. Some states I already know what's what with them, the ones I want to go to first. But I was wondering... What state are you in and what makes it special? Do you have a favorite activity that would represent your state the best? It can be a little or big activity, just so that it would be something unique too your state and one that you really enjoyed doing. For example: My state is Arkansas. The Razorbacks, hot springs, beautiful mountain ranges are popular here. Places to visit: Queen Wilhemina State park and camping sites, Eureka Springs and Hot Springs National Park are great places to visit. it doesn't have to be that long. I really appreciate it and look forward to y'all's answers! 🥰 Edited November 9, 2024 by Juju Cause I miss my brain and had to correct spelling 1
Aikko Posted November 9, 2024 Report Posted November 9, 2024 Replying so I don’t lose track of this thread. I’ll come back and edit my comment later with my list for Pennsylvania and Rhode Island. I’ll also ask my Daddy to give me some North Carolina highlights since he’s from there. I love this idea!! 😻 1
Juju Posted November 9, 2024 Author Report Posted November 9, 2024 @Aikko Thank you! I appreciate so much!
lillizzie24 Posted November 9, 2024 Report Posted November 9, 2024 Pennsylvania The Pennsylvania Grand Canyon in Wellsboro is beautiful especially in the fall. Wellsboro is my hometown and its a beautiful small town. Main street is lined with gas lights, in winter they put Christmas trees between them. It also has the laurel festival and dickens of a Christmas. Laurel festival is in June. Its a week long event. It has craft festival at the green with food vendors of soooo many yummy foods. Crowning of a queen and over hr long parade saturday. Dickens is a weekend in December on main street filled with vendors selling stuff. People dress in Victorian age clothes, they have carolers, town criers, free showings of a Christmas Carol soo much more! In Hershey Pennsylvania is Hershey Park, and a chocolate world. Choicolate world is free to go in and there is a free ride that shows how Chocolate is made. It smells sooo good on it!! Philiadelphia has a lot to see like the Liberty bell and sesame place (a sesame street themed amusement park) If u like history u dont want to miss Gettysburg. U can walk the battlefield, drive even take a double decker bus tour. Has a ghost tour, sooo many museums and historical places Harrisburg is the state capitol Williamsport is home to little league. They have a little league museum and the little league world series ( Ive actually walked in the llws parade) a little further is reptile land a place with tons of reptiles and dino park Knobel grove is a free to get in amusement park. Middlespace Brat Posted November 10, 2024 Report Posted November 10, 2024 Hihi! So I live in Kentucky. I've lived pretty much all over the state at different points. Kentucky is an odd state because people always ask if we're a Southern state or a Northern state. (If you live here, you know we're Southern lol). However, I like to joke that there's a nice line through Lexington, and if you're above it, you slowly get more Northern XD Kentucky is usually known for our horse racing, bourbon, and a bunch of cool historical sites. Most people automatically want to go to Louisville since there's a lot to do, but personally I feel like Lexington is the place to go if you only want to visit ONE location. Louisville has the cool museums and touristy spots, but Lexington is where you truly get a feel for what makes Kentucky so cool. Churchill Downs is in Louisville, but Lex has a LOT of horse racing locations as well. Don't ask me for specifics though, because I'm scared of horses... lol Lexington has some gorgeous parks and views, really cool local businesses, and is metro enough that if you want to see a cool concert or something they have it! Other places I really like are Mammoth Cave, Cumberland Falls, and the Kentucky Castle. These places are good for Littlespace dates! I also loooove the Newport Aquarium. You get to walk a rope over a shark tank to leave!!! If you like spooky things, we have the Waverly Hills Sanatorium, which really haunted. We get a bad rep sometimes because we're Appalachian, but Kentucky is very pretty and full of so many kind people. I have many friends who moved here from all over the country who say we have the prettiest sky they've ever seen. Bonus tip: if you wanna sound like a local, practice how to say Louisville. It's not "loo-is-vill", or even "loo-ey-vill". People with our twang call it "luh-vull". 2
Juju Posted November 10, 2024 Author Report Posted November 10, 2024 @Bxbygxrl.jpg Thank you! I've actually lived in Kentucky. But it's been awhile. It is a beautiful state! I'm definitely putting the aquarium down and if I wouldn't have heart failure, that sanatorium sounds like fun. I loved living there. I was asked once where I was from. Lol The girl was like, "You did southern but something else too!" Lol I've got so many places in me, my speech is all mixed up!😆
