A newbie little asking for support

I've been dealing with that issue too, I've spent my entire life undiagnosed with ASD, and I'm fighting every day just to have a doctor actually look at me, its tough as I'm not getting the tools or support I need to actually live life.

Undiagnosed for 30 years????? I had that too, recently! I was born with Scoliosis... but literally just got told about it two months ago. Not saying mine is more severe than yours, just mentioning that we have something medical in common, lol.

yyyup... :,,) It was so validiting to finally have a diagnosis, because ever since i was little i deep down knew something was up, but i was never able to fully recognize what it was. And then everyone around me going "nah, but your fine!" and then internalizing that for the longest time... Oh man but scoliosis can be tough though 😧

dang, yeah that really sucks ; ; nothing hurts more than going to the doctor, sincerely asking for help and explaining your situation, only to get belittled and dismissed completely... i've had that happen waaay too many times in my life. So i am more than grateful that i finally got someone to listen. Though, i could've used this help a lot earlier, since i didn't do well in school, high school specifically, and i eventually had to drop out 😕 And it's not like i didn't try, and man how many nights did i cry with schoolbooks in hand, trying so hard to concentrate and memorize stuff for exams, but nothing worked :,,)

i really hope you the best and wish that you would get the same lucky break as i did ; ;

yeah its a lot like that for me too, I've got trouble finding and keeping work because of it to, so I totally understand what you mean.

I don't have ASD, nor do I think I have it, but I am a much slower learner. I need visual, verbal, AND hands on, or sometimes I just don't get it as my overall comprehension skills demand specific attention.

So, I understand others who struggle with learning stuff.

School (all of it) was super hard for me, but I didn't qualify for any of the special needs classes... just an easier math class, that I barely passed.

It was the tests that got me. Constantly re reading questions for clarification and doubts about my answers, just don't mix well.

I still don't fully know how I graduated HS, but I did with a really low, and pretty much useless, GPA.

Now, that's not to say that I think I'm unable or am stupid, I just need an extra helping hand sometimes.

I can only imagine how ASD really makes it harder on you guys. So, I feel for you~ ❤

YES this!! I struggle with this in work and i feel like sometimes i have to demand more hands on instructions for things. (tho my bad as i haven't told my work about my autism yet, haven't found a reasonable time to mention it i guess dfjkd)

yeah neither did i 😕 that's definitely the problem of late diagnosis, cus if it doesn't seem like your stuggling enough, people just assume you're difficult/not trying hard enough. And since i also internalized that "i'm normal nothing's wrong with me", i never sought enough help. And tbh, it should be normalized that one should'nt need to have an asd or adhd diagnosis to recieve extra help in school/work. We're all different, which means we also learn differently!

Good luck telling them! 👍

I agree though. That schools shouldn't assume you're not trying. Many things factor in to being able to learn, so let's not forget those with troubled home lives too.

Yeah my family always just told me I was being lazy, I was working harder than anyone else, but i wasn't really ever getting anywhere in spite of it.
