My favorite is this Frightful Cookbook of Ghoulish Goodies with chapters. I prefer recipes for savory dishes since there are SO many sweets with Halloween. Gotta have balance. And this book has several!

Chapter 5 HALLOWEEN SUPPER (I'm changing the texts "parent for caregiver" and "kids/children for little" to be more fitting)

It's 6pm and the littles are hopping to get their costumes on and hit the pavements on their merry rounds. But no conscious caregiver sends a little out to collect candy without a bellyful of supper first. Even though littles recognize that this is ridiculous - all they want is to eat candy. You can alleviate some of the indignity of eating supper first by serving a highly Halloweeny meal, incorporating something ghostlike or something with a bit of pumpkin in it. The recipes here are for Halloween foods so tasty and little-friendly that your little one just might eat that much less candy.

Here is one dish I have made to share. 🍲 I love soup!

Note that your common pumpkins for carving Jack-o-lanterns are not tasty; they are bitter and tough! 🎃 Go for the Porcelain Doll, Cinderella, Jarrahdale, Ghosty/Lumina, or Sugar pumpkins.

I like these witches hats. Easy easy recipe is:

Bag of Buggles

Box of Chocolate Covered Cookies (I like Think Mints)

Bag of Chocolate chips

Butter

Ratio I like is about half the bag of chocolate chips to half a stick of butter.

I like to line cookie sheets with wax/parchment  paper but you can do it straight to a plate or top a cuppy cake if you want.

Directions are prep where your hats will set.

Melt the chocolate and butter (I do stovetop on medium heat til all melted then keep on warm--- you can also microwavelarge.images(3).jpeg.7e3ad967f69ea788690f9de2df4c6333.jpeglarge.images(4).jpeg.bd23d1bcbdd3a98b469b626b32397452.jpeg and stir until melted, careful to go in small time batches to not burn😅

Dip the buggle into the chocolate and stick to the cookie: boom, hat!   (Optional sprinkles and decals, I leave them simple and looking like The Sorting Hat from Harry Potter. Makes about 24 and mistakes taste good. Enjoy!
