Hannah04 Posted August 13, 2024 Report Posted August 13, 2024 (edited) So a couple moths back before I even graduated from community college, I made the decision to get further education, I chose to major in social work. I am beyond excited to be starting a new chapter because I never thought I would make it this far. I start classes on the 19th, I know these classes will be a lot harder than what I am used to but I believe I can do it.💓 Edited August 13, 2024 by Hannah04 1 3
Guest Gentleman_Daddy Posted August 13, 2024 Report Posted August 13, 2024 The Major change between college and Uni is the level of independence you're expected to exercise over your studies. Typically, unit modules will come with an accompanying Talis list, and if you want firsts then its going to be your best friend! Don't stress though, the first year should be "formative" that is to say, it won't count towards your degree and is really a chance to settle in.
Wafflechunks Posted August 13, 2024 Report Posted August 13, 2024 I think you’re talking about going to a big college to finish your bachelors but I could be wrong. Like the first guy said, don’t stress it too much. But don’t think it’s gonna be a cakewalk either (I know you don’t but Ima say it anyway). My first dorm roommate never really went to class or even stayed at the dorm. He thought he would just wing his way through the degree like high school. He almost flunked the first year. I hope I’m not scaring you away from college at all. Just put in the effort and you should be fine. For me the main annoyance was and still is food. I don’t have the money to eat good every day, as is normal for a college kid. So having to deal with cafeteria food as a picky eater isn’t a fun experience. 1

elusive.effie Posted August 13, 2024 Report Posted August 13, 2024 I'm going to university in September next year, so I can kind of understand how daunting it feels. You can absolutely do this!! 💕 I really hope it goes well for you 1
WolfMoon2024 Posted August 16, 2024 Report Posted August 16, 2024 You get out of university what you put into it. As important as your studies will be, don't neglect the social aspect either! You have a lot of leeway in your first year to make mistakes and no major consequences if your grades aren't high. That first taste of independence is a little daunting at first but greatly satisfying - I wish you well when you start! 2
