My wild first paddle boarding experience !

Hello 🖕🏻🐵

I got my first ever paddle board for my birthday this year and I decided to try it out today ! I went to Alder Lake which is like maybe 10-15 min from my house depending on traffic. You can see the mountain from the lake which is amazing - I drive past this lake every day on my way to work and I’ve swam in it several times from childhood to adulthood. I know the lake pretty well so I felt comfortable enough to go here for my first time paddle boarding. There isn’t too many boats creating rough waters so I knew it would be decently calm. 
 

I started by lightly flipping through the instructions , got annoyed and threw them aside LOL. I figured it out pretty much on my own and got my board inflated in like ten minutes or so , including getting all the attachments and dry bag set up. I’m a water monkey so I don’t mind getting wet - I do however hate not being good at things 😅 Lucky me - the paddle board felt totally normal. I didn’t stand up too much on it because I’m still not 100% confident I won’t just flop in , but I did stand up for a short while. 
 

I was going out towards a really big open area so I could just float around and I saw a woman dragging a man on a paddle board and I was intrigued so I followed behind them a little bit. I heard them arguing and I squinted so I could see them better / their fucking paddle was broken ! I got closer to them and yelled out “Is your paddle broken?!?” The girl yelled back , “YES !!!!!” So I got even closer and I was like hey my board has a tow hook , do you have any rope ? She looked at her boyfriend on the board and he yelled “We have nothing , just our lunch box!” I told the girl to grab my tow hook with her hand and I would paddle them back to shore. She asked, “Are you sure ? There’s two of us and that’s like 2.5 miles away…..” I just told her to grab on tight and don’t let go and got my ass to paddling. She said they were visiting from Maine and I yelled “Hey Stephen King is my hero !!!!” And she just kinda laughed at me , we got closer to shore and her boyfriend seemed … upset ? To me it seemed like he was embarrassed his woman was the one saving them when I found them , then me - a woman - saved them both. He told me that they didn’t need my help anymore and his girlfriend and I both looked back at him as I’m sweating my ass off towing them and said “Are you sure?” at the same time. He said he could handle it from there and I got irritated at that point lol. I said “Look dude - you have no paddle and she can’t touch the ground in the water yet. I’ll stop helping you when she can stand on her own , otherwise the current will pull you right back out.” She agreed and told him to listen to me and he just turned away. So , I kept paddling and she told me I was really strong and she was so thankful. She dropped her phone out there too and they didn’t even have service anyways ,  this had been an awful trip for her and I was being really gracious by offering to help them. I just smiled and said “I have nothing else to do.” We got closer in and I told her to stand up if she could - she started dragging her boyfriend in to shore and she yelled “THAAAAANK YOOOOU” as I paddled away.

That guy was definitely embarrased they both got saved by you. Good job you didnt rub it in and say it was your first trip out on it!

I actually had that in mind when he started being a turd bucket …. Like dude this is my first time on a paddle board and I’m carrying your heavy ass AND your woman ….. suck it up butter cup LOL accept the help and stop being a pussy little cry baby about it…. Is what I wanted to say 😇 but I was nice.

Haha. While you probably would have been within your rights to say that, you restrained yourself very well and you should be very proud of yourself. Double brownie points!!!

It was so fun ! If you’ve never been you can rent them at some places so you don’t have to commit to buying one - just in case you don’t love it :3 I highly suggest it for a little forest fairy like you ! It feels like you’re floating on magic powers on the water !!! 
 

I agree ! I couldn’t imagine a partner leaving me to do all the hard work !

My second time paddle boarding ! 
 

This time Dad and Brother went with me - they got themselves cheap little floaty boats with paddles. This way they could tag along with me to hang out in the water , see the gorgeous views and enjoy the weather. 
 

We swam all the way out to the dam , allllll the way around the big island in the middle on the lake and went all the way back to our starting point ! It was such a workout heheh I love it but Brother got tired and hungry.
