Princ3ss-Baby-Bear Posted August 1, 2024 Report Posted August 1, 2024 Okay so years ago I used to have an unholy amount of patience to the point I could sit for hours and make lace, but my patience has slowly disappeared to basically be non existent 😅 so what’s some good hobbies to build it back up again or what do those of you with little patience do? Because I’m desperate for suggestions as really need to build up my patience, especially when boredom is at play 🫣 2
Gentleman_Daddy Posted August 1, 2024 Report Posted August 1, 2024 Don't be bored, find something else to do! 1
shadowrider Posted August 1, 2024 Report Posted August 1, 2024 Recently I have seen several studies that show extended use of social media leading to increased levels of anxiety disorders and not only shorter attention spans but also decreased patience levels. We live in a now society where even microwaves aren't fast enough for us any more. We are always scrolling to find the next cool thing and we forget what we just saw equally as fast. There is little to no human interaction or conversation any more and we have even started to abbreviate 3 letter words in texts. Luckily enough we have a forum which is designed for interaction and plenty of clubs to check out and try to meet actual humans. My advice is to limit your social media exposure and screen time in general. Starting today I will be off of IG and FB, except for marketplace maybe once a day because I am looking for something. I will also be turning my youtube attention back to videos where I actually learn something instead of just random things that pop up. I'll do this month this way and see if I notice any difference. If I do, which I'm sure I will, I'll make it a more permanent change. I will also be using some of what would have been screen time to go outside and do more things I have been putting off because of "the heat". Blaming this ridiculous heat is easier and sounds better than saying I'd rather stay inside than go outside and sweat but accomplish something. TLDR: Turn off screens and go outside and feel better as a 30 day experiment. 1 2
LeftyGuitar Posted August 1, 2024 Report Posted August 1, 2024 I've also cut back on my social media time. I'm not sure if I've seen any improvement per se. Though I've always kinda be impatient my whole life. Sometimes you gotta self-disicpline yourself and re-gain that patience. Our world of instant gratification isn't good for us as a whole. 1
LunaLilac Posted August 1, 2024 Report Posted August 1, 2024 I've never had patience, I don't like having to repeat myself and I feel like I'm a burden if I have to make others do so. I like to be as efficient as possible I guess, or I'm ADD, or both.. Side note, how does one go about making lace? I've never really thought about it before. 1

I was gifted a lace making kit as a kid (think you can still get them on Amazon) you make it by pinning and weaving very thin threads into patterns ☺️ 1
LunaLilac Posted August 1, 2024 Report Posted August 1, 2024 Wow I don't think I could do that, my hands have muscle problems so detailed stuff like that is tricky. I tried to sew together a drink coaster once, and ended up sewing my hands together, but that's about as close to that as I could probably do. That's an amazing still to have! 1

Very much this, every small but of progress can help you improve yourself and get away from anxiety and depression. Even just getting out of bed can be a victory to help you take better steps to handling stuff like that. 1
dldaddysprincess Posted August 10, 2024 Report Posted August 10, 2024 Maybe you could try something where you might get a reward after you wait? Like baking or something creative. I've got an outside project that I working on for the whole family and I enjoy learning to use the different tools, not the plastic ones either! 1
