starz._. Posted July 12, 2024 Report Posted July 12, 2024 hi its star, i was wondering if any other littles are having any finger biting problems while in little space. i normally have always sucked my thumb to self soothe while little, but recent it has devolved into thumb biting if i zone out. I try to distract myself with coloring pages so i cant get to my thumbs but i always end up sucking and then biting them somehow. so does anyone have any tips or tricks to help me prevent this from happening? Or could even tell me why this is happening? ive tried to research but ive found nothing. i cant get a paci or anything so i need literally any alternative on earth rn. thank you and much love ~♡ 1
RavenclawPrincess Posted July 12, 2024 Report Posted July 12, 2024 I've seen different kinds of fidgets and "chewies" (I have no idea if that's the correct term for them or not but they're safe to bite/put in your mouth so long as you keep them properly cleaned) to use for that sort of self-soothing. I've seen chewies that are on a necklace so it's right there with you for when you need it, and other variations as well. Sometimes those things are marketed as geared towards the neurodivergent/disabled community but I don't see why you couldn't buy a chewie that you can bite instead of your fingers or fidget toys to keep your hands busy if it'd help you out. I know there's some people around the forum that would know more about those sorts of products that could potentially point you in a better direction for finding things like that online, hopefully someone with that info can chime in too. Those products are for sure not kink related as far as advertising or outing you to people that see it, assuming that's your main concern about a paci or other kink lifestyle related items. 1
Capri Posted July 12, 2024 Report Posted July 12, 2024 I have a problem with biting my nails too!! These days I've been using press on nails to stop biting since getting nails done at a salon is too expensive and I pick off my nail polish often 🥲 2

Ive never thiught of getting press-ons but im scared they may pop off in my mouth or something. Have you ever had that happen?
RavenclawPrincess Posted July 12, 2024 Report Posted July 12, 2024 Honestly, I don't particularly remember. Just different neurodivergent content creators online have had them is the best I can recall. Maybe you could try google? I'm not up for hunting online right this minute but I'll be sure to comment on it again if I do find any further info about chewies. All I can really say for sure is that I know they exist and they're designed for what it sounds like what you're looking for 😅 As far as the nail biting goes, I have the same issue. I worked that out via doing my own acrylics but I recently switched to using press-ons. The quality of press-ons nowadays is much better than it used to be. There's also polygel nails that you can do at home. There's all sorts of tutorials online for doing your nails at home and it's pretty affordable if you have the time to invest in learning a new skill. Press-ons are for sure the easiest IMO and I enjoy changing them every week or so. If you don't want to go that far with your nails, have you tried gel nail polish? I've read that it's more sturdy than regular nail polish so maybe that'd help? I haven't ever tried any of that stuff you can put on your nails so it tastes bad as a reminder to not bite your nails but I know that product exists too. Anyway, I do press-ons and after doing acrylics myself for a while I managed to break the habit. The only "oops" I have is if I don't have nails on and one breaks, but I can avoid biting to try to even the nail out as long as I remember to keep a nail file handy where I hang out or in my purse and that helps too. I can't stand my nails being uneven or breaking in a way that they'll feel rough or get caught on things and that's my main trigger for biting nowadays. 1

I've never had one pop off in my mouth but have had them pop off when putting too much pressure. Maybe im just using a cheap brand. I heard Glamnetic is a good brand but haven't tried it yet 🤔 From my experience press on nail glue lasts longer than sticky tabs for sure 1

I do still usually prefer regular nail glue but I've had the tabs last just as long via the hairdryer method. Good nail prep helps a lot too with press-ons staying on better either with glue or tabs 1 1
