febfry Posted June 5, 2024 Report Posted June 5, 2024 Hi friends! I have a really hard time about buying myself stuff for when I'm little. Like I really want more stuffies but I always keep stuck at "it's to much money". I don't have a CG, never had one, so I have to figure out myself how much money I spend. One thing I want to do is pocket money, but what about "essentials"? Like, I really could use a cool drink bottle because I'm never drinking enough and I think it would make me excited and make it easier. Or pillows/blankets for a fort. Or books. That's not stuff I want to buy from pocket money. How can I handle this? I just feel ... guilty (??) about spending money I guess? I wish someone could just give me permission 😣 or like I could ask someone. This isn't about buying from second hand shops. Idk. Does anyone have advice? Thanks Sam
beanbean Posted June 6, 2024 Report Posted June 6, 2024 Why don't you budget yourself a little money aside each month if you can afford it just for little you
Cebakes Posted June 6, 2024 Report Posted June 6, 2024 As mentioned, try putting together a budget to see what you are spending money on and your typical expenses. Are you able to save money and pay your bills each month?
MoJo Posted June 6, 2024 Report Posted June 6, 2024 Further echoing what others have mentioned. You can break down your budget into “buckets” and you can define how you define your money between those buckets. Beyond the essentials, you can prioritise. Buckets I use are: Monthly Bills, Monthly Expenses, Travel, Savings. you can then have flexibility to spend whatever you have in the little/stuffie bucket for example.
MissNMTX Posted June 6, 2024 Report Posted June 6, 2024 I think I understand this from a different point of view. Does it feel like an indulgence to you? Something you "shouldn't" be spending money on? I know for me, I've only bought something for my "middle" side once and I was literally told to! I have the list, add to the list, but never buy. Most because it seems like a irresponsible way to spend money.

EllieTheHauntedStarship Posted June 13, 2024 Report Posted June 13, 2024 Maybe give yourself chores and/or tasks that reward money? Like: Did the dishes! $0.50! Studied all night? $5! Figured out a solution to a difficult problem at work? $5! Adjust amounts/tasks for your own needs. At the end of the month use your reward money for something little! I would definitely set a budget though (see other people's posts they give advice) For feeling guilty I've found the best thing (for me anyway) is to look myself in the eye in the mirror and tell myself: stop bullying yourself. You deserve joy just like everyone else! 1
MissNMTX Posted June 14, 2024 Report Posted June 14, 2024 This thread has me thinking. Maybe I deserve a small bit of "middle" themed shopping?
