Juju Posted April 6, 2024 Report Posted April 6, 2024 I thought I would start the recipe thread if that's okay? Share all recipes for camping, hiking, open fire, grilling, etc...here!
Juju Posted April 6, 2024 Author Report Posted April 6, 2024 I use to be a Girl Scout Leader when my girls were growing up. Most of you probably know this one but i thought I would share it anyway😊 Although it takes a little bit to cook on a open fire, it can also be used on a grill, barbeque. Even in the oven! You will need: Foil (big enough for a meal for yourself and still have extra to fold and close) meat of choice... (I used chicken but this is great for fish too!) Veggies of choice (usually like carrots, potatoes...) Seasoning to your taste Instructions: Clean alllllll food well. Place meat on center of foil and add veggies. Fold sides and ends of foil to make a semi loose pocket. Place on cooking apparatus. Make sure heat is up enough to cook well but not so that it engulfs it. You don't want it cooking to fast. After about a half hour, check contents to see how it is coming along. I would say (just an estimate), a good hour to an hour and a half should be good! When finished, unwrap and enjoy! You can leave food in foil or put on a plate! NOTE: Please make sure meat is thoroughly cooked! Also: Pick up your trash! Don't leave it for the animals to get! Thank you!😀
Juju Posted April 6, 2024 Author Report Posted April 6, 2024 (edited) Variant to the "Meal in a Pouch" up there ^^^^ "Dessert in a Pouch" Everything as above; foil... But for this you need: INGREDIENTS: Bananas Different filling of choice, e.g. *marshmallows *chocolate chips or any flavor you want *M&Ms * Chocolate syrup, fudge, caramel... *nuts (optional) This is basically like having a hot fudge sundae , banana split in a pouch. Instructions: Cut banana down the center length wise. Leave in peeling. You can cut the ends off just don't peel. Add chips of choice, marshmallows and flavored syrup. Wrap in the foil as before. Like a pouch. This doesn't take long at all to cook, so make sure to check after a minute or less. Until all ingredients are melted and banana is warm. (It will depend on type of cooking technique you use... Open fire, grill, etc...) When finished cooking, open and add toppings of choice. Enjoy! NOTE: Make sure to leave an area better then when you came if possible. Discard the peelings in compost. Gather ALL other trash and discard appropriately. Smokey the Bear is on the job!
