New gear

I haven't been camping in so long that I now have no gear other than my small 2 person tent. So I'm starting my mission of restocking all the things I need or think I need. I'll be bargain shopping and getting inexpensive stuff just to see what a basic camping set up can be purchased for without going nuts on spending. I'll post pics and reviews as I go.

First up I found a cheap enamel coffee pot on amazon. For $16.50 I couldn't pass it up. It holds 6 cups and does exactly what a pot should do.

The lid does not fit tight and does not have any type of restraining system to keep it from falling off when pouring. So I used some aluminum wire I had and crafted a lid retention set up. I'm sure you could do the same with some leather strip or whatever. For the price and 2 minutes of wire crafting it seems well worth it to me. Just made a pot on the stove and it made a decent pot of coffee. We'll see how it does on a fire soon.

Best coffee ever from a camp fire and a crisp early morning or sitting by the camp fire at night!

Now i want one! I've decided, when we move, I'll go camping even it's right in my backyard! lo!

I'm planning on clearing a small patch on my property so I can try out all the gear I get. And I may fence it so I can leave the tent up without fear of the wild hogs destroying it, or other critters trying to make it theirs.

That's actually a good idea for sure

Bought the new ice chest and decided to go ahead and get the big one since they had it.

150 quart should hold anything I could possibly need to keep cool.

Also picked up a new 2 burner propane stove. I was planning on buying a single burner so it would fit in a backpack. But the only ones they had run on butane, which is twice the price of propane and not available in every store I looked in.

So I got basically the same one we had as kids.

I'll be using these for camping/fishing mostly but both will be on standby in case power goes out during hurricane season. Never hurts to be ready. I have a generator to keep the freezers going but I run all electric so no power no cooking. Unless I wanted to go out in the storm and fire up a grill and I'd rather not lol.

Oh! Very nice! I have the same stove.  We bought it for the weather outages, but I'll be using it camping.

That cooler should do the trick! Lol Big enough for you, and a football team worth of stuff! Lol Does it roll? I got to have one that rolls. Since I'll be going by myself, more then likely,  I'll need an easy way to get it where it's gotta go.

Thank you for sharing! It helps me compare and decide on stuff. Please keep it up! 😊

Yeah I might have to get the stove if the good reviews keep coming

Yeah I figure the stove will be great especially on winter fishing trips. The smell of fresh coffee and the cold salty air can't wait.

This cooler doesn't roll. It will probably stay in the truck on most trips. Or I'll put it in the boat then add the ice and stuff to it.

Next I want to get some cheap camp cookware and a lantern. Also good for hurricane season.

That's true nothing quite like the smell of freshly brewed coffee

Oooh very nice camping stove! I want to get a decent cookware set for camping. I like to do it over the fire, though, so probably no camping stove for me. I did find a nice little sleeve with some silverware and grill utensils that I can throw in a camping kit! I found them at a local rummage sale.

Over the fire is the best for sure

Yeah I like the open fire better but a lot of places I fish are state owned and they frown on setting things on fire. I could even make coffee in the boat with this 🤣

Ooh! And if you have Facebook, you can always check the yard sale sites and marketplace. (Obv it’s hit or miss and people can be sketchy 🤣

@shadowrider @Aikko  Ooh I need to put that idea (finding stuff in thrift stores, etc), on my list for stuff to look for! I never thought to look at places like that for some reason. I look for everything else at them! lol

Be careful putting that big cooler in your boat! It might sink you! 😳

I definitely can't use it in the small boat unless I go alone. It's almost half as long as the lil boat lol
