Flat tire repair options.

There are several options when dealing with a flat tire. The most labor intensive would be to put your spare tire on and drive to a shop and let them deal with it.  We will cover that last as it is usually not something the average person wants to do if they have an option.

Tire repair gels or goos. I think the 2 most popular are Fix A Flat and Slime so I have their videos first.

Fix A Flat

Slime

Plugs

If the hole is in the side or sidewall of the tire the above fixes may not work. And a tire shop will not try them in the sidewall. At that point we need to put on our spare tire.

Changing a tire

If you are new to repairs it never hurts to take your car to a shop you trust and have them double check your work. Be safe out there.

Make sure your car always has the right amount of oil! Never let it get down too low.  Get the oil changed as per the cars owners manuel.

Ok, before you change a tire, you gotta know where to put that jack thingy!! I've had this question from teenagers and even college kids who put a jack under their car and just break plastic. How do you know where to put that thing???

Just a quick reminder to everyone relying on these youtube tutorials:

Yes those tutorials are neat. They show exactly how to do a certain repair urself. You may be watching and thinking "ohh that's no biggie". But for fu*ks sake, try do it yourself in your spare time. Yes it may seem simple and it is. But if the first time you do something like this is in an emergency sittuation, which for most people it is, it will prove to be very difficult and awkward.

Now I'm not a DIY kinda guy nor am I handy by nature. If possible I throw money at an issue rather than do it myself 🤷🏻‍♂️. You can say that I'm among the most awkward people when it comes to stuff like this. But I grew up on the country side and "played around" with stuff like this as a kid. It was an everyday thing for me. Meanwhile most big city folks probably never touched a tool other than a vibrator.

Where I'm from the real estate is densely packed. You can't go a mile without seeing a house. Meanwhile in let's say the USA there's stretches of road with nothing in sight for 100s of miles. So for people living in that kind of enviroment who tend to travel a lot, I'd especially recommend trying these things out before heading somewhere.
