I often find undergraduate students who are looking into continuing their studies, but they are worried about how to pay for it, is it worth it, and what the next step is.  The first thing I tell them is, "DO NOT PAY FOR GRADUATE SCHOOL!"  Please note, this may vary from field to field and may be different in other parts of the planet.  This post pertains to mainly schools in the USA.  I tell them to look for a school that offers graduate assistantships.  These are programs that completely cover the cost of tuition AND pay you a monthly stipend to go to their program.   The stipends are not always a lot of money, but it is better than nothing and helps to reduce the potential debt.  Some of these programs will require you to work a certain number of hours in a particular job or even teach an undergraduate class.  Every program is different, so be sure to do your research.  :)

How about Job Corp if you want to learn a trade a meet their qualifications. I'm not sure all states have it but I know several do.

And...the workforce commission. They usually have a learn to earn program to help you learn a trade!

If you are coming to Japan to study in a graduate school or much younger stage, do research on scholarships ... or contact me. I'm running a scholarship fund and you don't need to be ddlg to apply.
