I think the idea behind this section is really cool. Hmm things I wish they had taught me in school? You could make a whole thread just titled "Banking and Finances" lol to cover things like loans, interest rates, mortgages. Another good one would be "Cars FAQ" or something like that. I learn something new every time I have to work on my ride. Not sure if that's what you're looking for but I figured I'd pitch my two cents anyways 🙂

The first one is in the works and is finance related. We have a local wiz working on something for us.

I was thinking something like "So you bought a car, here's what you should buy to keep in it at all times".

I look forward to seeing how the finance one comes out. Might learn a couple things myself.

Oooh the car one is a good idea! There should def be a checklist. Car jack, lug wrench, tire pump etc. You'd hate to break down and not have the essentials.

Something covering job applications/interviews could possibly be helpful aswell. I know when I first started working I let small stuff like that give me anxiety so maybe someone else would find it useful to know what to expect

Good idea. Things to do and say and things to avoid. I've seen videos on that on YT.

Hi's @shadowrider

Do you think a topic on health a nutrition would be ok. There are so many diats and fads and stuff constantly being pushed by media that it gets confusing.

The lastest things seems to be protein infused stuffs (not sure if this is just a UK thing) but i founds out that they best if you trying to gains weight/muscles not if you trying to lose a few pounds 😵‍💫 so confusing.

Some good ideas here. The only thing I want to mindful of is not stepping on the clubs since we do have clubs for some of these things. Maybe we can talk to them and see if they would incorporate some of these ideas. It may also be to where we can have a section for something here and then link the club that corresponds to that topic.

Customer service support and relations! I know there are people here who work in this field. The older I get the more I realize. People just need to know how to talk to people!

Ok, you have an issue. What's the most efficient, effective, and still polite way to resolve it?

There are so many things that this could cover.  Here are a few things that I can help contribute to (some of them are things I help my students with all the time):

writing a resume and cover letter

questions to ask and questions to be prepared to be asked during a job interview

Graduate school and how to find one that pays you to go there

Should you stay in your current college program or should you transfer to a different one

Things to look for when renting an apartment and even more things to know when buying a house

Really good ideas.

Sounds like I need to make this it's own section so we can have subsections to keep things organized

Welp, I learned you can't convert from one form to another lol. I'll start a new section and move this to it.

I started a few sections to get us going. Wasn't sure if housing should be it's own section or fall under finances with buying vs leasing and whatnot. Maybe both?

The car thing...How often you should change your oil the fact that there are many different types.  Difference between Coolant and Wiper fluid.

And from a mindset of medical Just because you feel better after using your antibiotic for a few days does not mean you are all better finish your medication as described.  And just because you have no trouble with vision doesn't mean something can not be wrong with your eyes.  Some things can be really wrong with your eyes and you won't know it until permanent damage is done.  Like don't ignore you medical health or mental health

Some things that I learned the hard way in life include anything to do with cars- had to file bankruptcy due to a bad car purchase decision (boy do I reeeeeally wish someone had talked me out of that one). So I think a thread for practical life advice would be helpful. Something like “big girls make big decisions.”

Oh! Also submissive safety, in terms of first meets, sexual health, abuse vs. Dom, red flags to watch out for, and maybe a warning thread for examples of inappropriate D/s behavior, a blacklist (though that’s very tricky and I could see it being problematic, but still could be very helpful in keeping people safe).

Some of these have been touched on in another section. But safety can never be talked about enough.

Okay, so scrolling through some of these, I had a thought for a new topic(s). Due to the career field I’m employed in, I have a plethora of information related to the fields of Continuity and Emergency Preparedness. I’d be happy to have a section to drop common tips for how to pack go-bags or kits, tips for pets and children in disasters (natural and man made) what the average person can do to make themselves 10x more prepared for any type of emergency where they need to leave their home etc. I know a lot of it is readily available on the internet, so if this is a dumb idea, I totally get that too. Lol but I’ve also got experience and advice on what states participate in competitive energy markets and how to shop for electric and/or gas suppliers to potentially save hundreds of dollars on your energy bills. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I dunno. Just feeling like I want to contribute and I don’t have much in the way to offer other than my skills and experience at this point. If there’s a better suited place, feel free to point me there as well or just say nah, no need.

anwyay, just throwing it out there.

We have had threads on storm preparedness but I think a centralized section is a good idea. That way it doesn't get lost in the shuffle. There have several other good ideas that we need to get added also. I'll try and work on this some more over the next week.

Awesome sauce! Thanks. No rush.  🙂 I joke that I’m in the business of bad, but reality is that’s why my position exists, so I guess it is accurate and I’m happy to share any insights I can provide. I’ve also got great links to Federal resources (since I know we are not all in the same state or even US) for individuals, families, business and others seeking to recover from disasters but don’t know where to begin looking. Stuff I never knew existed till I began a career in it. 🤷🏻‍♀️
