PennyGoodfellow Posted September 30, 2023 Report Posted September 30, 2023 (edited) Edit: This thread has really useful information on how some of us post photos, or resize them. There have been questions about this recently so I'm turning this into an FAQ so that we have the info! School is starting in 2 days!!! Do you have any questions before we get started? Got your first day of school outfit all ready? Are your crayons fresh? Are you excited?! Edited October 4, 2023 by PennyGoodfellow Updating to FAQ thread 1 1 1
Alisolte Posted September 30, 2023 Report Posted September 30, 2023 I have a question!!! If I want to load a picture of my work but the file is too big, what is a good way to make it small enough? I was thinking maybe email it to myself and then paste it into paint and save it as a jpeg? Do you know if that would make it small enough? 1
Kali Posted September 30, 2023 Report Posted September 30, 2023 Hi Alisolte, On my Android phone, the picture Gallery lets me edit picture sizes. Click on picture >> Edit There are 3 dots in the upper right hand corner of the screen >> Resize Image Different size options come up from 80% to 20%. I use the 20%. It gets most things to the appropriate memory size. Hope this helps! 😀 1

Alisolte Posted September 30, 2023 Report Posted September 30, 2023 I didn't know that! Thank you both! 🥰
Kali Posted September 30, 2023 Report Posted September 30, 2023 I have a question! 😄 How can I share more than a few things. The area to share media tells me a max total size: 227kb atm. When I share, that amount shrinks until there is nothing left. I have to go back and delete things to share more. Is there an easier way to share things? Can I get more space? Am I doing it all wrong? LOL 1 1
PennyGoodfellow Posted September 30, 2023 Author Report Posted September 30, 2023 Those are all great options, but my work-around is a little less work! If you make an album on your profile I have been able to upload things of all sizes, then here on the threads if you click the "other media" button on the lower right side, and then add "insert existing attachement", then choose from gallery image it seems to get around the size restriction for "attachments" here on the threads! 1 3
PennyGoodfellow Posted September 30, 2023 Author Report Posted September 30, 2023 Just now, Kali said: I have a question! 😄 How can I share more than a few things. Am I doing it all wrong? LOL I know others have answered this already, but I have another way that works best for me! 😄 My way is to upload pictures using a URL. This avoids file size issues and file limits 🙂👍 I have included the steps I use bellow. 1. Make an Imgur account! https://imgur.com 2. Go to the green button in the top right corner and click the icon, then select 'images' 3. Select “Add image” 4. Drag image file onto this sceen, or select through browsing your files 5. Click on the image you uploaded and copy the “direct link”. When you paste the link on the forum, it will appear as an image 😊 This avoids having to fiddle with resizing or any file limit errors you may encounter. 6. Uploading an image this way does not share it publicly on imgur, so don’t worry about that. You would have to make a post separately to do that. ❤️ Hope this helps! Sorry for the long reply 😅 2 2
PennyGoodfellow Posted October 1, 2023 Author Report Posted October 1, 2023 That's another great way to get around files and such! I used to use Imgur, but via DMs someone told me they weren't able to access any of the images so I decided to try to avoid it - now I might use it again! 1

I have had some issues using any of the links that aren't "direct link" - but I haven't encountered any issues when posting using this option... nothing is going to work 100% of the time for everyone though. I've been using this since 2018 and have mostly good things to say about the performance. I don't remember if i ever tried to use it in DM's however, just in posts. 🤔 1
PennyGoodfellow Posted October 1, 2023 Author Report Posted October 1, 2023 I'll try to give it a shot and see which one I like better!
