Hello, hola, and hallo! As some of you may already know, I've been working on a modpack for Minecraft themed around the Cg/l and AgeRe dynamics, and the time has finally come for the Alpha release! I actually wasn't sure exactly where to put this - I thought about posting it to the Creative Corner, but it's not like I made any of the mods included, I just tossed them together in a single pack lol  In the end, I figured that DDlg Discussion might be the best fit, since I ultimately aim for this modpack to have something for littles, age regressors, and Caregivers all!

Please note that A Softer Time is a living product; I'll be pushing out updates over time to tweak the configuration files and change the modlist. Updates will be posted in thread!

Introduction
A Softer Time is an 18+ modpack that aims to focus on providing the tools you need to enjoy a fully CG/l- or AgeRe-themed Minecraft experience. Minecraft as a game is already well-suited to play while regressing or when in little space, and with just a few tweaks you can experience a world built around supporting your interests and needs while you're in that headspace. My goal is to create a modpack that requires as little configuration as possible on the user's end to ensure that even those who regress to particularly younger ages can still enjoy it without having to worry about complex configuration files or knowing how to write code.

As mentioned above, A Softer Time is an 18+ only modpack. This website is not a space for minors, and neither is my work. While AST doesn't have any explicitly sexual elements, I am neither interested nor comfortable in supporting the underaged participating in these spaces. Please do not share this modpack off of this website except in private conversations (don't repost it anywhere), and do not share it with anyone who is not at least 18 years of age. Thank you for your understanding! ✌🏽

Installation Instructions
The easiest way to install it is to use the CurseForge app/launcher, which will automate the actual work of installing the modpack for you.

  1. Download your preferred version of A Softer Time from this folder.
  2. Turn on the CurseForge app
  3. Navigate to your Minecraft page
  4. Navigate to "Create Custom Profile," in the upper-right hand corner
  5. Select the underlined "Import" option
  6. Navigate to wherever you downloaded the modpack, select it, and press "Open"

If you would prefer to install the modpack manually (or simply don't have the CurseForge app installed and are uninterested in using it), you should be able to simply unzip the download file, copy all the .jar files out of its mods folder and into your own, run the game once, and then copy all the config files out of the A Softer Time and into your Minecraft installation. I make no guarantees that this will work, but in theory it should be pretty simple.

Minecraft Version: 1.20.1
Forge Release: 47.1.0

The current version of A Softer Time includes the following mods:

Roadmap
Future plans for this modpack include the following:

  • Additional mods that let you explore/partake in a variety of hobbies and interests, including gardening, farming and cooking, photography, stargazing, music, building, and more!
  • Additional cosmetics, including new options for building as well as cute clothes/apparel.
  • Improvements to animals, with a focus on adding additional mobs that can be tamed as well as making interactions with them cuter.
  • Some way of implementing a chores system, along with rewards and punishments.
  • Additional performance enhancement mods to help lower-end machines run the pack.
  • An alternative version for the Fabric modloader, with a focus on as much parity between the two versions as possible.
  • Possibly including mods to completely eliminate combat and difficulty.
  • Not specifically modpack related, but if there's enough interest I might host a private server for everyone to play the modpack together on.

Please feel free to leave any suggestions, comments, or critiques below!  My hope is to refine A Softer Time through community feedback until it becomes something that we can all enjoy.

🤩Ohh this looks amazing! I haven't played minecraft in a long time but this really makes me want to get back into it. Mhmm, I'm wondering if I can make it run on my steam deck.

If you give it a try, let me know what happens! If there are any issues, I can look into additional optimization/performance enhancement mods to wrangle more of MC's bloat lol

Love this idea!! I hope you keep developing this, the idea of adding things like cooking and photography is pretty nifty!

Personally I've always wanted something like butterfly/bug catching and I know there are a few mods out there for that ... not sure how good they are though or if they are compatible with other stuff. I just think it sounds so cute to chase around butterflies in minecraft! Look forward to seeing what additional mobs you want to add later!

Do you have any pictures or screenshots of some of this mods current features? I'd love to see how things look 🙂

Clarissa and I absolutely love to play Minecraft together. What version does this work on? Asking b/c it sounds awesome but we're playing on 1.19.x because of some other mods that we use. What parts of the game do get modified by AST? Like, you know, is there anything that may interfere with other mods?

Thank you for the kind words! I'll keep an eye out for something along those lines to add in.

Now, this is a modpack, remember, not a single mod that I made, but if you follow the links I supplied to the individual mod pages on CurseForge, several of them include image files that display their changes. :) I'll try to get some together to showcase the various addons working together in the modpack, but it might take me some time because I have a bunch of other projects I'm working on atm LOL

Originally, I had it listed under the Installation guide that the modpack is for version 1.20.1 (built using Forge release 47.1.0), but I've moved that down to the new "Mod Details" section to make it easier to see. :) I did originally consider making a backported version of the pack to 19.2, but unfortunately the 1.19.x versions of the some of the mods in the pack aren't as stable as the 1.20.x versions and don't play as well with Embeddium, and I just don't have the time to maintain more than one version of the pack at a time right now. In the future that might change, so keep your eyes out! 👀

As far as conflicts, *as of yet* I'm not aware of any. A good two-thirds of the pack right now are simply performance enhancements and library mods, and the rest that are dedicated to the modpack's theme mostly add in new items so the only real conflict I can imagine there might be overlapping crafting recipes. If you use any mods that alter the length of the day/night cycle in MC, you'll need to configure Serene Seasons to properly account for that otherwise your seasons will end up out of sync. Alternatively, they can be safely pulled out - at this time, they're really only in the pack as optional support for both Snowy Spirit and Haunted Harvest to act as a timer for the seasonal events without players having to go in and configure individual dates and times.

I can say that I built this pack using the newer Embeddium mod over Rubidium, so a lot of the Magnesium/Rubidium addon mods might not work with it if they haven't been updated to keep up with Embeddium's current version. There might be rendering issues between Let Sleeping Dogs Lie and other mods that alter the wolf texture or model, and between Carry On and other mods that can't handle the player picking up items from them and carrying them, but unfortunately there's no real way for me to predict that until a mod turns out to have a problem with it. I've used LSDL for a while now in my personal modpacks and haven't run into any issues with it, so I feel pretty confident in saying you should be okay! ✌🏽 If you encounter any issues, let me know so I can figure out how to work around them!

EDIT: Oh, and Bedspreads will not function alongside any mod that changes how beds are rendered by the engine.

Unfortunately, not that I'm aware of. I haven't had the time or money to get one set up on my own.

Go nuts!  All I ask is that you provide a link here to the modpack and make sure to note that this is intended for 18+ players only.

Feel free to let me know what you think. It's an early "kitchen-sink" style pack right now, I haven't done a lot of work with any of the config files to make sure that everything is compatible or interacts right. So if you notice any glaring incompatibilities, I'd be happy to address them!

I have played it a little bit! I LOVE the ducks and hamsters! 😄 and the new bugs and bug net!!!! seeing fireflies float around at night is really magical! 

This mod pack is lighter than most of the mod packs that I play, so it runs really well for me and makes for an easy tradition from vanilla minecraft- but there is still features to explore and get excited about! I'm excited to play more and for future updates🙂

I see in the Roadmap list that there might be a chance of getting rid of all hostile mobs. Personally, I enjoy combat in minecraft (as long as creepers don't explode my things!!! lol) and would prefer the ability to add "safezones" or filter which/where mobs can occur instead of completely getting rid of them. Not sure if those would add to much complexity for the desired type of gaming desired here though. I can  see how a mod pack catering to regression/littlespace could benefit from a less stressful/scary experience but I'd be sad to see them go.

I'm excited to see what you might add for gardening/cooking - I'm hoping for a few more crops! ^-^ corn and tomato's are in so far, and having those options and the added foods is already super awesome! I'm trying to survive on only grilled cheese sammiches. xD

I adore the babyfier ray-gun in this mod pack that allows you to turn all mobs into babies. Making baby hostile mobs and locking them in time out areas has been very fun for me 😆For anyone curious, here is a screenshot of a few(but certainly not all!) of the cute things in A Softer Time so far:

Long time, no chat everyone~

Just wanted to leave a quick announcement that while A Softer Time was on the shelf for the past month or so, the next major update will (hopefully) arrive by the end of January! I've been busy dealing with birthday stuff (which is over now thank fucking god) and Christmas nonsense, but once that's past us I'll have time to devote to this again.  The next step for A Softer Time will be the Fun in the Sun update, bringing a whole host of hobbies and pass times to your worlds.

Sorry folks, sadly I have a not so good update to give for progress on A Softer Time.

Unfortunately, my holidays were atrocious and the pattern has only continued. My computer is half broken, I am essentially unemployed again, and now the cat that I share with my sister has likely developed cancer so my sister and I will need to spend our time and energy discussing our options soon. I haven't really had the motivation to do anything with Minecraft, let alone spare much more than a moment here or there to do much of anything with AST over the past couple of months.

While I am still trying my best to get everything handled, work on AST is obviously going on the backburner for now and the release date for the next update will unfortunately have to be pushed back indefinitely. As soon as I have a clearer picture of what the next update looks like, and when it will be released, I will be sure to let you all know. For now, wish me luck while I try to replace my dying equipment with no reliable job lmfao

Hey lovely people. Adulting sucks and life still refuses to stop with the right-to-left-to-right hooks, but I don't want any of you to think that I've forgotten about this project or abandoned it. I'm still figuring out what direction the next update is going to take, but in the meantime, I stumbled upon a new mod recently that will definitely be getting added into the overall pack soon! For now, check out the link below and decide for yourselves if you'd like to add it in manually.

Caregiver, a NappyCraft add-on

EDIT: I left a comment in Caregiver's comment section asking the author to clarify a couple of things, for those who might be interested:

1. Littles have to run a command to assign someone as their Caregiver before that person can perform any of the CG commands, which I like, but it's not clearly stated whether or not users have the option to deny the request. I don't want to add this mod to the pack if it's going to end up creating a situation where consent is applied asymmetrically.

2. Whether or not the mod supports poly/open littles and CG'ers (whether you can assign multiple CG'ers or be assigned as a CG to multiple littles).

Hello! It's 1:45 in the morning and instead of sleeping, I'm here, writing this because, really - who needs sleep? 😂 I hope everyone is doing well! I'm actually coming to you with two updates, so strap in!

First, it's a bit after the fact, but I did want to let everybody know that the creator of the Caregiver mod I mentioned before reached back out to me to answer my questions. They confirmed that potential Caregivers actually have to accept the role, so there shouldn't be any potential consent weirdness should you load the modpack up in multiplayer. Additionally, a recent update tweaked the mod's code to allow for open/poly dynamics as well! For now, slap it into the load order after you've downloaded the main pack if you'd like to include it, and when the next update comes around it'll be included as an official part of the pack.

Speaking of the next update...

Version 1.3 is slowly coming around the corner! I'm still working out a title that I'm happy with, but, in addition to Caregiver mentioned above, you can expect it to include a variety of hobbies and interests, like gardening, photography, stargazing, and more. If there are any specific hobbies or activities you'd like me to look into, let me know in the comments here or shoot me a DM!
