gemmy Posted May 16, 2023 Report Posted May 16, 2023 Happy Tuesday, everyone! My question today is this: what is a brand new project you're taking on this summer (or, if you're a southern hemisphere friend, one you would like to tackle after winter)? Something you don't previously have experience in. Looking forward to reading your responses! 1
Guest Runa Posted May 16, 2023 Report Posted May 16, 2023 Daddy and I have built our first raised bed. We grew some vegetables last year but this year we're doing new ones - does that count? My project is to start a herb garden. I'm going to start in containers and transplant them next year. I've got thyme, basil, chives and lavender to start with. Super exciting! @gigisweetheart Yay, bee-friendly! That's one of the reasons I'm doing lavender, for the bees. Thankfully we have loads in our garden but... for some reason, we've had masses of wasps this year! 😮
beanbean Posted May 16, 2023 Report Posted May 16, 2023 Herbs are always good way to start quick an easy 1
Andriel_Isilien Posted May 17, 2023 Report Posted May 17, 2023 My project is to keep the window well grass I put in alive for my guinea pigs. I'm also having a go in growing leafy greens and herbs for them to enjoy this summer.

I wouldn't care about wasps normally but I have a dog that is terrified of them after being stung. Also, new vegetables totally counts as a new project! I am so jealous that you can keep lavender as a perennial! It won't grow in my area but I love the plant. The smell makes me a little nauseated, lol, but it looks stunning! Aw, poor pupper! My collie is really bad for trying to catch anything that buzzes so he hasn't learnt that lesson yet, makes me super nervous! I'm not a huge fan of lavender scent but, yeah, it looks so pretty!
Ghost1031 Posted May 19, 2023 Report Posted May 19, 2023 My summer project is to fix up the flower beds around the house. I planted some slightly invasive plants in there 3 years ago and they've gotten a little out of hand 😅. Im also going to try growing mint and a few other herbs in the ground. They dont live love whenever i try growing them in containers.

Be careful with mint in the ground though, it will quickly take over 😅 - Worse than any clover cover you've ever seen
