PRMari Posted May 12, 2023 Report Posted May 12, 2023 I know this may be a strange question, but I am wondering if there are any resources for medical providers that understand, or are in the lifestyle. I have a great deal of anxiety when I need to go to the doctor. My little is on the surface during those times and I have to lock her down, even when I hurt. Since I don't have a Daddy (or likely to ever have one at my age) it would be awesome to find professionals that have empathy for people like me. Thoughts, comments, suggestions? Blessings and blessings Mari 2 1
Vampiress Posted May 13, 2023 Report Posted May 13, 2023 I have never heard anything about this and I'm not sure if such a doctor would even think to consider being open to this, but it wouldn't hurt asking a kink-friendly therapist if they know any people in the medical field that are open to it. I guess it depends on if you are a little because you are an age regressor psychologically (the coping mechanism where you age regress and have no control over it and are unable to consent to NSFW things). If you are not that kind of little and are in control of yourself and can consent to things by your own volition then a doctor might be less open to that because it is exposing them to a kink pretty much, and they may feel uncomfortable with that. I think you can just tell them you're very scared, nervous, anxious, and sensitive and ask them to go slow with you and be patient. If it is a psychological coping mechanism out of your control then it would make sense to bring that up so that they would know to be careful when that happens. However, if that is the case you might need to be able to prove a diagnosis from a therapist, I'm not sure.
Cebakes Posted May 13, 2023 Report Posted May 13, 2023 (edited) Kink friendly counselors and psychiatrists is a thing. There is a fair amount of info on this topic on the internet via search engines. This site appears to be a good starting point for those in the US. This site quickly pulled up providers in the Philly area. https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/therapists/pa/philadelphia?category=sex-positive-kink-allied Edited May 13, 2023 by Cebakes

Guest BabyBug Posted May 13, 2023 Report Posted May 13, 2023 Yup there are, even a few medical Dr's. in my area...Though I only found out by accident and was really stressed about someone so close to my work life knowing my secret.
Guest LittleBe Posted May 13, 2023 Report Posted May 13, 2023 This is a hard question because it's really hard to find a Health provider that'll tell u openly it's part of the DDLG community (for a lot of reasons) but I think that maybe thinking bigger I'm sure you can find emphatic health providers out there (Not focused on the kink just people doing their jobs the best they can and no judging anybody). So my recommendation is a little bit "general" I'd think first about what kind of health provider I need (A psychiatrist, a family doctor, etc) and if I feel more comfortable with a woman or a man or a non-binary person. Then I'll start to look for options online and after look for reviews of the specific health provider. Even then and even looking for somebody kink-friendly maybe you'll not feel comfortable and it's ok you can start looking for somebody new and you'll find somebody that fits u. Also, it's important to not forget, health providers can have red flags and we don't have to tolerate them.
PRMari Posted May 16, 2023 Author Report Posted May 16, 2023 UPDATE: So, I clicked on the link provided by Cebakes last week and it is a good resource to first find a therapist and then maybe see if they can refer a medical provider in the lifestyle or at least accepting of it. The way I found a fairly local office was under "Sex Therapy" - I could not find any listing in my area under "kink friendly" or "sex Positive." I am on a waiting list to get an appt. It appears that help is very much in demand and so few providers (at least where I live). If I find any other resource we can access, I'll be sure to share. Blessings and Blessings, Mari
