questions regarding age regression

Hello everybody,

I have a stupid question that you've probably answered a thousand times, What is age regression? or more like multiple questions regarding age regression. because I know what it is on a surface level, to return to a younger head space, to avoid stress, or heal trauma. But I know there is more to it than that right? I've tried googling this, but I have just given the same basic answers. I want to know the nitty-gritty details, like:

what does it feel like to regress, and how do you regress? (Is it instantaneous like a switch or a slow fade in). Can anyone regress or do some people's brains just not work that way? what decides your little age, like is it affected by your surroundings? Are you the same person when you regress or different? in summary, how does it work?

I want to be a part of the little community and feel like since age regression is so common I should be well informed, maybe try it for myself once I've gained the proper know-how.

(Ps. Again I'm sorry if these questions have been asked before, I looked it up on the forums and I found a bunch posts relating to age regression, but nothing that was like the iceberg of it all, which I know realize maybe a lot to ask but, I've gotten this far so I'm going to post)

hi hi! these are not stupid questions at all, as age regression is a topic that tends to be brushed off as "reverting back to a childlike mental state" by outsiders, without giving any chances to those on the inside of the community to explain. i will do my best to explain my personal experiences with age regression, from the point of view of someone who is a switch and can take both a caregiving role as well as the role of a little, in the right situations.

for me specifically, age regression is both a tool for coping with anxiety and negative emotions, as well as - simply enough - something i enjoy doing. there's no real right or wrong way to enjoy age regression! whenever i do slip into my little headspace, my little age tends to fluctuate between 4 and 7, and it's usually a gradual process of engaging in activities that might make me regress. it's never a big, sudden change from 'big' me to 'little' me, think of it more as a series of smaller switches that get flicked with every enjoyable activity. my little age is generally dictated by the activities i engage in, spanning from something more simple like playing with plush toys or coloring, to something slightly more 'grown up' (as grown up as games for kids go, anyways) like playing dress-up or playing pretend. i wouldn't really see myself as a different person when i'm regressing, but i've heard of littles who have entirely separate little personas! it's definitely not uncommon, but it's not how i personally live it.

i'm positive that there are loads of people who don't regress, either because they're not aware of what age regression really is or, simply, because they don't enjoy or derive anything from regressing! but, to reiterate; there's no right or wrong way to enjoy age regression, really. it all boils down to what the person in particular enjoys the most, or what makes them regress in particular.

once more, these are my own views on regressing, based on what i've experienced firsthand by being an age regressor myself! the process of regressing is different for everyone, just like the activities enjoyed in little space might be different between multiple individuals, too!

hope this helps, apologies if some of the stuff i wrote doesn't make the most sense, english isn't my first language! >.<

Hiya! Not a stupid question at all! 💖

Just right off the bat, wanted to say that I am a little in the community who does not age regress. So just wanted to offer some reassurance that experiencing age regression is not necessarily part of exploring your littlespace, and not being an age regressor doesn’t make you less of a little or less a part of this community! ☺️

Thank you for your insight, I must admit I was secretly worried about not fitting in (which is kinda dumb, since this isn't the schoolyard). If you don't mind could you tell me how you explore your littleness without regressing? (its totally fine if you don't want to!)

So, when I feel the sense of comfort when I imagine being held by Daddy, fed and rocked to sleep, is that age regression or just daydreaming.?

I think getting into my little space is gradual, when I sing or color, or dance with my dogs 😂 but is it age regression?

This is so hard to figure out for me.... I was reading today and realized I was sucking my thumb, but I didn't feel little. Does that make any sense?

Blessings and blessings

I get what your saying, I find comfot in younger experiences, I can very  relaxed but I'm not sure if it's the same as regression. But I guess it doesn't matter as long as we are enjoying ourselves :)

I also got to ask my self this before.

So before ddlg , I always sink into this scenarios every day for no reason, like singing let it go out of nowhere, laughing or giggling by myself just because I remembered something funny, acting like a villain w/ raised brows🤨 hehe like princess amber or just talking to an imaginative friend. I didn't see my self weird at that time until I saw my sister laughing at me because I'm talking to the air hahaha. I even though if I have DID at that time because I really feel like I have an adult silent me and a talkative little me.

So when i discovered ddlg, I got to ask my self, Am I a little, am I regressing that time.
