I was humiliated...Daddy doesn't understand

Hi,

On Friday my job told me my services were no longer needed even though I still had 2 weeks left to work. They can't fire me because I am in a union but they can tell me not to come in for 2 weeks and be paid to shut up. It was so humiliating to be followed back to my office to clean it out then escorted off the property. I couldn't stop crying as I have never been treated this way from an employer. Daddy keeps telling me that maybe it was meant to be and I can do a 2 week home vacation. But, I can't get what happened to stop playing in my head. I keep falling little and just crying about it. I want to put it behind me but I don't know how.

I was gonna be all like %&%$ them but then was like language young lady. No one deserves to be humiliated. That was uncalled for. So many ways they could have handled that. I am so sorry. When the tape starts to play over (I deal with this) you gotta hit stop but only after all the good cries :0).

If you are employed for an X amount of time. Over 6 months. I may be wrong. They then have to give you health insurance which one job gave me. Most jobs they find any little thing I think to get rid of you. Then your fired.

I agree its humiliating.  I see things from both perspectives.  The way they do things seems like its targeted towards you.  Like they decided you were the perfect target.  Then the escort like salt in the wound.  But most places when they let people go do just this.  Policy says when you are let go they follow you to be sure you don't do something bad or destroy things and so if anything is said later they and you have witnesses.  I was let go of 2 places.  One I was not upset about I was 19 and celebrated it; The other made me sad/angry and picked on.  But after a week or so I realized I could do sooooo much better than them and actually found a job where I felt accepted and that I had friends.  Sometimes things like this can be a blessing.  Might not have been a good fit for you.  Take this time to relax and really work at finding something you prefer and feel happier with.

If they are paying you, then enjoy your vacation. And if you think there is a violation of law, then contact lawyers. Why are you crying? What's your fault?

I'm really sorry you went through that.  Being treated that way would sounds awful and it's completely understandable that you felt humiliated.  There are some really rotten people out there who care more for profits than employees, it's a sad fact of life.

Have you told your Daddy that you felt humiliated?  Have you told him what it is that you need from him at this time?  Maybe for him to acknowledge that it you feel humiliated?  Maybe you need to be held and comforted?  Maybe a treat just for little?  Sometimes putting what you need into words for your Daddy to understand can help so much.  I often have my Daddy repeat the same thing multiple times a day because I get scared or insecure.  It's a bit like a Daddy mantra!  :)

Oh, another helpful thing could be to write down how you feel.  Write a letter to your rotten employer, you don't have to send it to them, just get your thoughts and feelings out.

I agree with everyone else when they say you should make the most of your two weeks.  Your Daddy is totally right on that one.  Do some of your favourite activities, spoil yourself and keep telling yourself that you're way better than that job ever was - because you are!

I'm sorry this happened to you and that you don't feel understood. I really hate being degraded or humiliated so I'd probably be feeling similarly. Sounds like your Daddy is the more logical type rather than the emotional type, and he's trying to comfort you in a way that he understands, but isn't what you feel like you need. Allow yourself to feel your feelings, but also give yourself permission to enjoy these couple of weeks like a paid vacation. Take the time to have fun and unwind before you go search for new work. You deserve this break, and then when you get back out there you can find an employer that values you so much better, and perhaps may wind up with a job that you like a lot more.
