DaddysMonkey Posted December 24, 2022 Report Posted December 24, 2022 ……….. hi. 👋🏻 I’m a very handy and capable little leader monkey , Dad does concrete for a living and has done TONS of construction / building projects his whole life , and Big Brother is very intelligent and thinks things through at a much quicker pace than Dad. What does this mean ? We like doing house projects and they get done pretty quick ! Our guest bathroom downstairs is where Lector and Hannibal’s litter box has been since we moved in. It worked but I haven’t really been a fan of it , we have a litter robot thing that stays really clean but I just hate the idea of guests having to be around our cats litter box. After some brainstorming …. Operation Harry Potter Poop Box Room was under way ! The whole idea is for the cats to have their own private bathroom area that’s non intrusive to the rest of our house , aaaaand getting the guest bathroom back to humans only ! We’re still working on it but Big Brother and Dad did all the hard work so far. They’ve cut the section out , re wired , put flooring down and started putting wall stuff up so it can be finished and painted. This is the progress so far ; I figured this would be a good thread for everyone to share house projects they do alone or with caregivers or family ! Paint a room ? Rearrange , build a bed , vanity , maybe a fence outside ? Make shift some cool projects for your house (my dresser/wardrobe was make shift I would say) ? Any Home Depot , home made , first time trying it , fun house projects are all welcome ! Do the projects stress you out ? Is it calming and peaceful for you ? Do you like having help or doing it alone ? 2 1 1 1
DaddysMonkey Posted December 30, 2022 Author Report Posted December 30, 2022 (edited) Lector and Hannibal’s bathroom is almost done ! All that is left to do is cut and make a door design we want , throw the hinges on and we’ll be finished ! During the build Lectors big dummy head ass almost got locked in the walls… he jumped in there when nobody was looking and Brother had to yank him out by the scruff of his neck. Barney048 Posted December 31, 2022 Report Posted December 31, 2022 Man I'd like to post something since noone is posting anything under this topic. Unfortunately my only "house project" is the ocassional cleaning, and even that is a seasonal thing 🤷🏻♂️ 1
DaddysMonkey Posted December 31, 2022 Author Report Posted December 31, 2022 I realized after starting this thread that we have three people in the house …. And we all have experience building …. and also realized that while people don’t have as many hands on deck they also might not have time - or rent their home so it might not be so easy to just rip into your walls like we did 😅 I still have high hopes someone will maybe paint their room or something lol Projects don’t have to be big ! 1
Barney048 Posted December 31, 2022 Report Posted December 31, 2022 Yeah I live in the capital and rent a different place each year. The closest I get to a house project is trying to get my toilet to flush. When I visit my parents place I ocassionally do projects like these with my dad in our vineyard or backyard. These can be really fulfilling and I'd recommend it to everyone who has the option to do these. 1 1
LilLamby73 Posted June 3, 2023 Report Posted June 3, 2023 I re-did my fireplace this spring! I’ve been wanting to do this for almost 8 years. The pic of the red wall is the before. My partner helped put new drywall up and cut a few pieces of tile. But I did most of it all by myself! 3 1
DaddysMonkey Posted January 2, 2024 Author Report Posted January 2, 2024 (edited) I am back gain with another project ! CEILING CLOUDS WITH LIGHTNING ! This project is one that I received for Christmas from Dad - typically I am not a fan of his projects because they turn into such a hassle and take way longer than he said they would…. This one DID take a while - but not terribly long and the results are honestly pretty neat. It ended up being a really neat Christmas gift. What we used : - Poster board (like for school projects) - Staples - Polyfill (we used a 10 pound bag for the area I cut out) - LED light strips , preferably ones that Bluetooth connect to your phone (We used Groove brand) - Adhesive spray - A ladder Realistically the first step is to visualize and plan out where you would want the clouds to be on your ceiling and where yo will be able to plug in the lights. Step one : cut out the poster board into whatever shapes your heart desires. I wanted somewhat whimsy looking clouds. Step two : staple the poster boards to the ceiling where you would like them to be. Step three : place the lights onto the cloud shaped poster boards on the exiling (make sure you start where they are / will be plugged in) Step four : once the lights are placed where you want (I placed mine similar to lightning bolts) you will need to start grabbing chunks of the polyfill and shaping into cloud like pieces. It’s best to get a few chunks going and it is REALLY helpful to have someone with you to make this process much faster. Step five : spray your chunks with the adhesive ad started putting them all over the poster board until all of the lights and poser board are not longer showing. All you will want to see if the fluffy polyfill. Step six : connect your lights to your phone and start picking out which styles you like best ! I am posting a couple of in the process pictures as well as some videos of what the clouds / lights look like with the lightning bolt settings and colors I chose. This is a really cool project that isn’t too expensive. It sets a really romantic mood , but you can also set it to all kind of rainbow colors or sunshine. I hope you like the results for my room and maybe someone else will do this project too and post it :3 Edited January 2, 2024 by DaddysMonkey 1 3 1 2

All in all it took about 3-4 hours from start to finish to complete :3 Thank you guys for thinking it’s so neat - I figured I would share because it really makes a little room feel more adventurous and whimsical. 2
Andriel_Isilien Posted January 3, 2024 Report Posted January 3, 2024 This is beyond COOL @DaddysMonkey 🤩 It reminds me of the great hall ceiling in Hogwarts to match the weather outside!! The clouds look so real. Awesome work here 🙌 1
DaddysMonkey Posted January 15, 2024 Author Report Posted January 15, 2024 (edited) Hello again ! I am back with some more bedroom improvements ! I slowly but surely over time have been trying to make my bedroom more “me” - my middle space , and make it feel like the pre teen room I wish I had my whole life. This addition was a corner shelf where I can keep some of my more precious books , pictures , and my lego project that I have been trying to finish forever but don’t have the motivation (R2D2). Family projects like this are always fun and I end up directing the men more than anything. I figure I will also give a room tour as for now it is finished , in a series of GIFS :3 Edited January 15, 2024 by DaddysMonkey 1 1

Juju Posted April 3, 2024 Report Posted April 3, 2024 @DaddysMonkey These projects are really cool! Especially the clouds! I also really like the way you used the space to hang clothes! And that cat potty! Ingenious! Thank you for the inspiration. @LilLamby73 Wow! So pretty! Really nice! We're planning on buying our own place next year! I'm so excited! But in the mean time, I'm going to be doing a few things to my room. If i remember, I'll share.
