How can you add someone to friends?

Hey everyone!

I've been trying to message someone from the personals section but it won't let me do it because "I need to be friends with that User".. But the only option I see is "Follow Member" which I've done and it still doesn't work.

Any help would be appreciated!

The other person needs to accept your request for you to be able to message them.
