shadowrider Posted November 25, 2022 Report Posted November 25, 2022 Do you have a special tradition that you followed as long as you can remember? Maybe you are looking to start a new tradition and want ideas? Here is the place to share. 1

The excitement for me, is not so much getting any of the items on there but sitting down and writing the list (not saying I don't like getting presents lol). We do stockings and Christmas Eve dinner and watch Christmas movies too! ⛄🎄🎁
Middlespace Brat Posted December 3, 2022 Report Posted December 3, 2022 My family has one of my favorite traditions that we've done for about as long as I can remember. On Christmas Eve, we all visit our grandparents, and then come home to spend the night. If you're grown like me, you only visit for the night and morning. But the most special part is right before we go to bed, everyone, adults included, opens a single present, which is the same every year: a new set of pajamas! We all wear them to bed and the next morning to open presents. It's always fun, and we've even included my Daddy in the tradition now that we're married. 1
Guest Snow_Daddy Posted December 11, 2022 Report Posted December 11, 2022 My Christmas season tradition is to watch as many of the movies as I can each year. They get me into the spirit.
Andriel_Isilien Posted December 17, 2022 Report Posted December 17, 2022 New tradition I have been starting is to make Christmas all about my pets. I get them a small pet's advent calendar. They have a stocking stuffed with gifts for them all. Little decorations I have been collecting and/or making for their enclosures. Then I have their pawprint signatures for Christmas cards. Each year I am able to keep most of the accessories and then add a bit more. 😊 It's one thing I do for myself that i can look forward to. (My sugar gliders I'm still figuring out what holiday themed decor I can do that is safe for them). 1
Guest Snow_Daddy Posted December 18, 2022 Report Posted December 18, 2022 Well, everyone's traditions sound great.... and have found something to make the season cheery and bright in their lives and homes.
sophieR Posted December 11, 2024 Report Posted December 11, 2024 So.. I didn't grow up with Christmas. As a teenager and I finally met my dad's side of the family in the UK, my grandma bought me the equivalent of my 9 years of Christmas without her. It was awesome and incredibly sweet of her. I got to choose toys to over £120 at the time it was so much. They had a huge Christmas party for us and everyone was together. It was also my first taste of swede which is my favourite veg to this day. When I moved to UK formally they couldn't do that every year but my dad made it a point for us to visit each of his family members each year. It meant well but as my parents were Muslim.. meant I visited aunts houses and sat in hand me down clothes while they opened piles gifts around me. I was grateful with what I had but was never close with these cousins, I only just met them and don't think they liked me so just seemed like they wanted to rub it in my face at the time as we all had to sit and watch them open each gift for like 2 hours. Since growing up, I wanted my own traditions.. it includes visiting Christmas markets and drinking mulled rum, wine and anything else they will make into Christmas drinks, hot chocolates, order my meats and veg, a Christmas cake as well as decorating. The last few years I started with making my own sacks out of material, making a Christmas eve box with pjs. 2
shadowrider Posted December 11, 2024 Author Report Posted December 11, 2024 Sometimes making new traditions is more fun. I need to come up with a new tradition.
