MissNMTX Posted November 22, 2022 Report Posted November 22, 2022 Hi there. I think I wrote in one post about how I've recently gotten into perfume as an interest/hobby. I started thinking about it around late summer. Got on YouTube and it's been a wormhole ever since. I've noted how diverse the group here is, and was curious as to anyone's favorite perfume/colonges? Does anyone have a signature scent? I'm currently obsessed with the unisex quality of YSL L' Homme! 1 1
LoverEcho Posted November 22, 2022 Report Posted November 22, 2022 I've been wearing YSL's Black Opium for years, I don't buy any other perfumes so this one is definitely my signature scent. 1 1 1
Little kaiya Posted November 22, 2022 Report Posted November 22, 2022 (edited) My Wife and I used to demo for the Armani and Ralph Lauren lines. I absolutely loved the Armani Emporio White. Although it's more a men's line the notes work really well for both men and women being citrus, bergamot and chamomile based with soft musk undertones. I also lovedRalph Lauren Silver Romance. They would be my two all times favourite colognes. These days my signature scent is sweeter with it being Pink Cashmere or Pink Chiffon. These scents fit a bit more with me being genderfluid and don't trigger dysphoric moments Edited November 22, 2022 by Little kaiya 3
MissNMTX Posted November 23, 2022 Author Report Posted November 23, 2022 @Little kaiya Armani has so many nice ones. Armani Code for women is definitely a fave. I love much. Since I tend more towards Fall/Winter, unisex/ masculine scents I'll have to look at that one. 2
Boomer Posted November 23, 2022 Report Posted November 23, 2022 I like sweet scents that smell like candy! Anything by Escada usually fits that, also a big fan of YSL Mon Paris and Miu Miu. Marc Jacobs Daisy, Chloe, Prada Candy Gloss, and Victor&Rolf Bonbon are also on my perfume shelf. 2 1
Nymph Posted November 23, 2022 Report Posted November 23, 2022 For many years I used a few of the Dior Poisons, the last one I used was Pure Poison and was considering one of the Miss Dior versions I think, but found Victor&Rolf Flowerbomb Midgnight, I bought Versace's Dylan Blue recently and I love it but still wear Midnight sometimes. 1 1
Vampiress Posted November 23, 2022 Report Posted November 23, 2022 My overall favorite: Burberry Brit Past favorites that no longer exist... Bvlgari Black (on a man, so freaking sexy) Curious In Control by Britney Spears Deseo by J. Lo 2
MissNMTX Posted November 23, 2022 Author Report Posted November 23, 2022 @NymphI've heard Flowerbomb midnight is wonderful. I'll have to get my nose on that one as well. 1

It's great, you would think it's the night/fancier version of flowerbomb but it's not!! it is more discrete. Flowerbomb is lovely but a bit too loud for me if that makes sense. For the record, I have a very strong sense of smell so something like Givenchy's Organza gives me a headache and I have a very low tolerance to be around men who use too much aftershave or heavily scented stuff. 1
MissNMTX Posted December 3, 2022 Author Report Posted December 3, 2022 My sister and I went on a "sister date" the other day and got exceptional service. I got samples of several. After all my research and learning I may have to adjust my goal though. I think ONE signature scent may be too hard. Maybe a "carefully curated fragrance wardrobe"?? 1

You could do seasonal so that would be 4, and you could always change a couple a year or whenever one of them runs out? which ones did you like the most from the ones you tried? When I was younger I was always broke so I could only splurge on a single one, now I don't need to worry about that but I don't want clutter and fragrances do change/spoil so keep that in mind. 1
MissNMTX Posted December 5, 2022 Author Report Posted December 5, 2022 Haha! I am having such a fun time. My problem is I'm sampling ones I like. (I have good taste IMHO) so far the YSL's are coming out on top. And yes, fragrance can get expensive so I can do too much.(of course I have to pick an expensive hobby) I guess that whole "princess" thing really isn't made up. 1
Nymph Posted December 5, 2022 Report Posted December 5, 2022 My favorite site for perfumes is fragrantica, it gives you 3 shelves on your profiles " perfumes I have, I've had and want" but you can add custom ones, it's great for reviews and finding something similar if you like something but it's not quite what you want or discover something new!! on this site I discovered why sometimes my perfume would not smell exactly how I remembered, info on when they change formulations or different versions that look almost the same. There is even some info on some obscure ones that are not made anymore and vintage ones!! https://www.fragrantica.com/designers/Yves-Saint-Laurent.html Hehe, I don't usually consider myself a princess but I certainly go on shopping sprees or spend too much time at the spa XD 1 1 1
MissNMTX Posted December 5, 2022 Author Report Posted December 5, 2022 Thank you @Nymph. I have heard of this site before, but I didn't know you could have a profile. I thought it was mainly for research. Time to go deeper down the hole. 1
Guest Enchanted_MoonFlower Posted December 20, 2022 Report Posted December 20, 2022 My all time favorite perfume is by Betsy Johnson, I can still order it off of amazon. I'm so happy about this, because I love this scent so much. Here's the info on the perfume: https://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Betsey-Johnson/Betsey-Johnson-2072.html

Right there with you!!! Over the holiday, I got sucked into the worm hole of perfume (once again, this time with more intent). For the longest time my signature scent has be Mugler's Alien and after what feels like a decade, it is time to switch it up. I've been looking YSL's Libre Intense and Carolina Herrera's Good Girl. I got the holiday sampler kit and bought myself the roller balls. Not a fan of roller balls! The holidays tend to be an awesome time to grab some fragrance goodies. Sephora tends to run 30% off fragrance. I'm going to make a giant guess and say they might even do a Mother's Day deal. During busy retails seasons where deals aren't common, I will shop on fragrancenet. They give you a discounted rate if you sign up your email but the best part is you can buy small vials. It's easier to test it on yourself and really gauge it's performance before committing. Thank you for starting this thread!!! ❤️ On 11/22/2022 at 4:19 PM, LoverEcho said: I've been wearing YSL's Black Opium for years, I don't buy any other perfumes so this one is definitely my signature scent. Almost bought Black Opium! I was sniffing it out against Tom Ford's Black Orchid which I still want to love. Black Opium seems to be a favorite amongst the most well liked scents. Love the smell and the bottle design but it just doesn't last long for me at all. 2

There are quite a few perfume subscription services out there that will allow you to try out a variety. I've learned about these services through some popular perfume personalities on YT. While browsing some of the services, I didn't see exactly the scents I wanted and therefore opted out but if you're looking to get to experience more regardless of brand I'd say it's a good deal for $10/month. I recently noticed that I own a Target brand perfume that was made to be mixed with the other perfumes! So perhaps experiment mixing some of the scents you currently own? Get up to some mischievous and spray your sis with a mixed concoction. 😜 I'm building up my collection at the moment and this is how I'm approaching it. A scent for each season. (I mesh fall and winter together.) A work scent. A date night/sexy-swagger scent. 1 1
MissNMTX Posted January 22, 2023 Author Report Posted January 22, 2023 @Punographerit seems you and I have similar fragrance tastes. Using up all my sample and trial sizes now. While I save up for the ones I want. Hoping to gift myself for Valentine's day. Chanel Coco mademoiselle and YSL Libre Intense are my first choices. Then I, of course, already have follow up ones in mind. Probably a Dior or a couple Armani scents I love also.
Mr. Davis Posted January 22, 2023 Report Posted January 22, 2023 Fahrenheit and Joop if I have the money. Otherwise, gonna go old school with Brut and Old Spice......anything Gardenia as well 1 1
Erasmeus71 Posted April 3, 2023 Report Posted April 3, 2023 (edited) My cologne is Drakkar when I go out. I have had it for 40 years. I only use it for the special occasions so that is why It has not been replaced. I put in on for dating or church. Besides when my father died I got his supply of Drakkar. MissNMTX Posted April 19, 2023 Author Report Posted April 19, 2023 @AnthonyUdouorothose are some of my favorites as well!
MissNMTX Posted April 19, 2023 Author Report Posted April 19, 2023 Looks like I missed a few posts along the way. So glad the topic seems of interest to people...you never know! I definitely immersed myself into something that was bigger and more intense than I realized. But I love learning new things and I think remaining an interested person is important, so I'm definitely glad I started. @GayKittenI never thought about local or regional indie scents. I do a lot with essential oils...for allergies and colds and such. I can see where the PNW(which I love) would have great stuff. There have to be some hippies here in the desert too.... I'll go searching!(farmers market here I come) You all have great tastes! 2
Erasmeus71 Posted April 19, 2023 Report Posted April 19, 2023 By the way keep in mind all. Some people can be allergic to perfume or cologne. So if you hear sneezing and you have a lot on it could be the reason. 1
Erasmeus71 Posted April 19, 2023 Report Posted April 19, 2023 @GayKitten Your orange scent sounds nice. I would not mind smelling that myself just see what it is. A little bit for me goes a long ways as I am hyper sensitive. Although my sense of smell would be least sensitive I would say some stuff I can't stand certain stuff but if it is nice I love it. 1
Punographer Posted May 21, 2023 Report Posted May 21, 2023 @MissNMTX I think I wore Libre Intense to death. Getting a little bored with it and now vibing with my sample size of Good Girl by Caroline Herera. Are you wearing any fun scents for spring/summer? @GayKittenLoved it when you revived the thread. This is probably my secret not so secret favorite thread to check up on. hehe. 1
