Perfect Stovetop Popcorn

Source: Perfect Stovetop Popcorn - Belly Full

There are MANY ways to cook up and season popcorn. I'll start with the basic recipe for making on the stove. This makes 14 cups of popped corn!! I'll half the measurements on here so that it's not quite as much.

🍿 Ingredients 🍿

  • 2 Tablespoon vegetable or coconut oil
  • 1/4 Cup popcorn kernels (yellow or white)
  • Salt to taste

🍿 Instructions 🍿

  1. Drizzle the oil in a pot (that has a lid to fit) just enough to coat the bottom.
  2. Warm the oil on medium-high heat.
  3. Test the temperature by placing 3 kernels in the pot. Once they pop then it's ready to begin, so scoop them out.
  4. Dump an even layer of kernels into your pot. Cover with the lid and remove from heat.
  5. Wait about 30 seconds then place the pot back onto the heat. The corn should begin popping rapidly.
  6. Give the pot a shake back and forth with the lid cracked enough for steam to escape.
  7. When you hear the popping slowing down remove the pot from the stove.
  8. Take the lid off and dump out your hot popcorn into a large mixing bowl.
  9. Sprinkle a little salt over the fresh popcorn according to your liking.

Share what flavors you like to have on your popcorn below. Do you have mix ins to make this a snack or treat? I sometimes toss M&Ms in my popcorn for extra yumminess!

Yum! I love popcorn, but I’ve never made it on the stove top before. Sounds fun! 🍿🖤

I love M&Ms on my popcorn, too. Kettle corn, dark chocolate drizzled caramel corn, and white cheddar are my favorite. 🥰
