Pareidolia or seeing faces in things.

Recommended Posts

Pareidolia is a psychological phenomenon that causes people to see patterns in a random stimulus. This often leads to people assigning human characteristics to objects. Usually this is simplified to people seeing faces in objects where there isn't one."

A lot of us grew up looking for faces in clouds but over the years I have noticed that I can usually find a face or an animal or something in almost any picture or landscape.

I was just looking at the header on the forum and a couple things popped out at me.

I'm just curious how many other people here have done or still do this.

Below is the header image and beneath that are the things I saw with just a few seconds of looking at it.

I removed the bear logo and my gator because I already know who would have said I missed the bear and gator.

I do this a lot, especially with walls or floors with designs or textures that aren't just one solid, flat color. It can keep me pretty entertained for a while.

Same! I see faces and other things in random objects all the time, especially textured walls, floors, clouds, and cars/vehicles. So many vehicles look like silly cartoon cars, with their headlight eyes, and bumper/grill smile. Hehehe ☺️💜

Oh I have a picture I took while at a doctor's office. I see a specific character from a movie in this. Who is it?large.Screenshot_20221115-063609_Gallery.jpg.1f85f8ce6d36efc61569b2306098d595.jpg

Makes me think of the Grand Duke of Owls from the movie Rock-A-Doodle.

I can see that. Especially since the nose looks pointy like a beak.

Growing up we had a bathroom with butterfly wallpaper print that was the only thing I could stare at as a kid while doing my business 😅 We didn't have books or magazines to pass the time but funky wallpaper that you could see faces or other shapes in. Kinda trippy LOL

That's because those movies were both Don Bluth productions.

I suppose it's like the ink blot test. People see different things. What would they say about my psyche seeing Gimli from LOTR? 😆

This conversation reminds me of this meme

Funyn meme with a panel of wood that looks like there is a dog in it, joke is that the dog barked up the wrong tree.

I didn't see the face but I see a fish, a side view of a hand and a rams head.

I also see consecutive numbers on a regular basis. Does anyone else experience that? What numbers do you see the most?  Mine are mostly 3:33 and 2:22. I do see others but not as often. (If I've high jacked the thread, I apologize. It just came to mind with the content)🙂

I do this often, especially when looking at bushes or trees! I had no idea it was a thing. I'm an artist so chalked it up to my crazy. I love this!

I see 10:10 a lot or 10:01 on the clock. Some people say seeing 11:11 is supposed to mean something

Seeing 11s commonly means you are on the right path and that good things will unfold as you keep going.

The angle doesn't catch it quite right and yes I know I need to dust my screen. But the firefox logo reminds me of Paul Stanley.
