Self Care/challenges

So over the years I've dealt with fatigue due to really bad anemia and other conditions. Self care can be tough when you don't even have the energy some days to even get dressed. Then there's the brain fog that sometimes comes with it. That can lead to frustration and depression.

My biggest challenge has been keeping up with healthy eating habits. When I'm exhausted, I don't have the energy to cook or even meal prep, I tend to go for whatever is quick and easy which isn't always healthy choices.

My go to things to help me have been Qi Gong exercises which sometimes I can only do a few, sometimes Ive just done sitting exercises or I just do breathing exercises. Meditative breathing exercises can really help with energy and focus.

The other thing I've used is the.Finch Self Care app. I have benefited from setting goals with reminders for things like taking meds, drinking water and doing my exercises. There are also features like breathing exercises, writing prompts to help with staying positie and depression and anxiety quizzes. It's a really cute app that definitely appeals to my little side too. You can even friend other people on there.  It's actually free although when you first sign up they make it seem like you have to pay but you don't.  There are more features with the paid version but I haven't needed it.

What are other people's challenges? What do you do to help with self care and your mental or physical health?

Frozen produce is my trick because it won't spoil when I start with those good intentions but don't follow through in time. I freeze bananas and berries (sometimes mangos when in season) that are easy for me to add to yogurt or in a smoothie. I freeze spinach, zucchini, or kale which I can toss into a smoothie. I'm a smoothie girl 😋 Frozen broccoli is another quick fix to add as a side. This helps me when I'm having a stressful day with low energy which means I need those nutritious fruits and veggies even more.

I started looking up self-care challenges with the seasons. This is set up like a calendar, but I stretch it out for a couple of months. So far, I have accomplished half these.
