Vampiress Posted November 2, 2022 Report Posted November 2, 2022 So I've seen Gene Tagaban perform a number of times over the years in person, we are both of the Tlingit tribe in Alaska, though we come from different clans. He is an amazing storyteller, musician and dancer. I thought I'd share some of his work, especially his stories! My favorite is his story about how Raven brought light to the world. 1 1
Vampiress Posted November 2, 2022 Report Posted November 2, 2022 You can also find some of his music on Spotify Apple music: https://music.apple.com/us/artist/gene-tagaban/348734055 Amazon music: https://www.amazon.com/Tleidooshu/dp/B0032LJSIE 1

PRMari Posted June 1, 2023 Report Posted June 1, 2023 So cool to find this topic. I'm 32% Arawak Taino by DNA, totally surprised that it was this high. Learning to speak the Taino language, and the art is amazing. Blessings and blessings Mari 2

Thank you for the info, I haven't heard of that before but if they're stealing someone else's material then I'd definitely want to be avoiding that movie.

Yeah, they're saying they're not, but basically what happened was Mean Spirit was written in 1991 by a Native American woman, then in 2017 some white guy wrote about the same stuff, and they're basing the movie off of HIS book, instead of hers. It's all kinds of messed up. I think the book/movie are called Killers of the Flower Moon or something like that. 1
