Another tip I discovered; I think it was on Tiktok a couple years ago. After buying fresh mushrooms, it's best to wrap them up in a towel and keep in the fridge. πŸ„Β The towel will absorb moisture so that they won't get slimy. Weeks and weeks later I forgot about my mushrooms one time, but it was OK! They dried out nicely in the towel. Just like dehydrated mushrooms. Perfect to put in a jar and store in the pantry!Β A happy accident.Β πŸ‘

A bit different to the thread origins but there's an app called "Too Good to Go" where you can get stuff that's "unsold" at the end of the day for pretty good prices if the app is in your area. For example, the other day I got like 6 different pastries from a bakery for $4! Such a bargain and we're helping to stop perfectly edible food be thrown out by businesses! The price is great and I also love the fact that you get random stuff; I'm not the most adventurous so the app has helped me expand outside my food comfort zone and try things for cheap that if I didn't like, I don't feel too bad about because I didn't pay the sticker price.

I gave this method a try to dry out summer squash as there is such an abundance that I don't know what to do with it all.

It's so nice to store without taking up a lot of space that will last for months!
