I completely agree. Pet names are extremely personal. 

I remember a while back, a couple in a discord server I was in enjoyed messing with other couples by "stealing" thier pet names and mimicking them for as long as it was entertaining. It was pretty awful.

 

Not saying that's what you want to do Vincent but like kaiya said they can be very personal to the couple. 

You should talk to your partner about what they like.

As said before; it is something very personal. It depends on preferences as much as on the character of the person. You could look if it should be names matching the chosen 'animal' or real own nicknames.
It is always best to talk about it with your partner. Often such names arise quite spontaneously.
