Shibi Posted September 12, 2022 Report Posted September 12, 2022 (edited) Hi! I’ve been trying out small baby pacis recently to test out the wonderous world of pacis, but I know they’re not safe for adult mouths due to the dental deformities they can cause overtime I tried looking up if adult pacis are actually safe or not but I can’t seem to get a definitive answer even on professional dental websites. If it helps, I only suck or chew on objects for a couple minutes at a time as my jaw does get tired easily. I just worry that even doing that with an adult paci will cause issues. Does anyone know if that’s the case? Thanks for reading! Edited September 12, 2022 by Shibi 1
LoverEcho Posted September 12, 2022 Report Posted September 12, 2022 (edited) At this time, there is not a ton of research on the negative effects outside of use in children/infants. Adult pacifiers can reduce some strain, as they fit better in an adult size mouth, but there is still the chance that long term use will cause dental shifting. In my opinion, the best thing to do right now is to be mindful about usage. What I mean by this is to not use them hours on end or while sleeping. If you just chew on them and they aren’t sitting fully in the mouth, I would think that is not as damaging but I’m not a doctor or dentist. I am also fairly sure that adult pacis and baby pacis are made from the same thing, medical or food grade silicone, you could potentially look into the safety around that to see if you can find more information. Thank you! Now I know why there isn’t a true definitive answer now haha. I appreciate the advice and I’ll take more precautions/do more research into it 1
