……. *waves* Β  Β  Howdy 🀠

Fall and winter are coming up pretty quick , and I’m a sucker for seasonal meals. There really isn’t anything like warm and nostalgic meals for fall and winter , things that bring up really good memories from childhood or even recent memories.Β
Β

What are some of your favorite seasonal meals for fall and winter ? Maybe share a couple of your favorite recipes or just meals in general.Β

I think one of the no brainers for fall and winter is ….. GRILLED CHEESE AND SOUP ! It’s such a classic , ooey gooey cheese with nice crispy bread , warm tomato soup with a little bit of cheese or croutons on top ! Mmmm mmmmm mmmmmm ! You’re a weirdo if you don’t dip your grilled cheese in your soup !Β

I was thinking soup too! Cozy chili, tomato soup, or a stew that you can have going in the crockpotΒ πŸ˜‹Β This is an idea I have for another challenge before this year is over. Bonus if it's a soup you could make using an ingredient you grew yourself in a little garden! 😁

We don't have Fall here so I'm eagerly awaiting the few weeks we call winter lol

I agree on the grilled cheese, as bougie or as basic as you wanna make it, it's perfect. The only thing as good would be my garlic cheesy bread.

For nostalgia I love mashed taters and gravy or biscuits and gravy (with biscuits it has to be white gravy/milk gravy, bonus points for adding ground beef or sausage)

For cooler days and nights there isn't much that says welcome home like a good bowl of gumbo with tater salad.Β

Chili, enchiladas, home made bread all good cool weather things that take me back to earlier times.

On the sweet side is the million dollar fudge that mom always made or her Italian Cream Cake. Holidays were all about family and cooking. The fudge is always a hit and disappears fast no matter how much I make.

Beef stew is one of my go too things to make for colder months. I usually bring out the crock pot and make stew. Or just a yummy homemade chicken soup.Β  I also make ginger tea made with fresh ginger.Β  I just grate the ginger and put it in a cloth bag and boil it in water then add spices to make kind of like ginger snaps.

@Vampiress That's a fantastic printout! Thank you for sharing. A neat tip I learned over the years is to save kitchen scraps like the peels of onions, carrots, celery bits, and so on. Then you can make your own broths by recycling them. 🍲 Perhaps I could write another topic for all the ins and outs on how to do that??

@Sloth FairyI LOVE tea! 🍡 I learned a tip from a client who keeps fresh peeled ginger in her freezer. Then she takes a piece out specifically for making tea with. What other spices do you add into yours? You might just have to share the recipe in the Beverages section here!! 😁
