Phoenix78 Posted July 5, 2022 Report Posted July 5, 2022 So dont know if anyone can relate but i love fireworks but the smoke that they make really bothers my asthma. I havent been able to go outside the house all week because of the fireworks and it will be another 1 or 2 weeks before im able to go outside at all. Bit of a rant but it really does not feel good to not be able to breathe y'know. 2
Andriel_Isilien Posted July 5, 2022 Report Posted July 5, 2022 I don't have asthma but whenever the air quality gets bad with pollution my throat acts up. Last night I stayed out watching fireworks and I could already feel my throat and back up in my nose getting irritated. 😖 I kept coughing from the dryness. The older I get the more I see fireworks as being over-rated. Yeah, they are cool to watch but I don't think the money people blow on them is worth it. Plus, they pollute the air and I know that many animals and veterans with PTSD suffer from the noise. There are way too many cons for them. I didn't realize how awful the smoke can be for someone with asthma. 1-2 weeks is a long time to not breathe comfortably. I'm sorry! 😥 3
Guest Daddylyfe Posted July 5, 2022 Report Posted July 5, 2022 (edited) I live next to an ex cop and he got shot while sirens were going off and we live basically next to a fire station and sirens will go off at all hours of the day and night. It would be nice to be able to keep everyone comfortable but I don't know if it's possible. I'm sorry about your situation though. hopefully you get some rain in the next few days and you won't have to wait 2 weeks. *** edit, I forgot to mention sirens set off his ptsd from the event. I should have been more clear. Edited July 5, 2022 by Daddylyfe
Guest Missy Ann Posted July 5, 2022 Report Posted July 5, 2022 fireworks are banned where I live because they're really bad for the environment, animals (especially dogs) and autistic people. I know we are used to using them to celebrate, but I hope we can find a way of partying that won't cause that much damage. I must admit that I miss them a little bit, but everyone's safety is more important than some lights in the sky.

I'm sure one day someone will be super passionate about fireworks and come up with some brilliant chemistry that fixes all the problems. I don't know when it will be but it's got to be someone's goal. They'd get really rich from it too.

I remember in a conversation with a friend tossing the idea around, what if technology could advance to holographic fireworks?? That would be so cool!! No smoke, no banging noise, and no mess to clean up afterwards.

I don't know if we're close to that tech yet, I was thinking more a complete chemical overhaul that was easier on the ears and environment. But that idea is really cool! I bet it will be a thing one day!
tangible~ soul Posted July 6, 2022 Report Posted July 6, 2022 I can relate with all of you. I live in an extremely rural area in the mountains with not a lot of people. Oh but do they love their fireworks until 1:30 a.m.! I may be an old fuddy duddy but I had to wear ear plugs just to keep my anxiety at a minimum and slept all night with them too. My little/middle may LOVE the pretties but the rest of me can live with out it. I am all for silent fireworks. I vaguely recall a display of that very thing last year. I will have to research. Have a QUIET and BREATHABLE evening to you all. 🥰 1
LeftyGuitar Posted July 7, 2022 Report Posted July 7, 2022 I do like fireworks as well. However I also notice that they affect my health being asthmatic. I also don't like when people set them off late at night. There are some fireworks that aren't super loud, so that's a plus. Maybe one day there will be fireworks that aren't super bad for the environment, nor super loud and still look awesome and have amazing displays in the night sky. 1
HannibalLittle Posted August 4, 2022 Report Posted August 4, 2022 Theyre detrimental af to the environment, animals, and people w PTSD and schizoaffective disorders. Frankly I wish they'd get banned.
