Tattoos or piercings?

YAY! more people who have tattoos and piercings! I've got 3 tattoos, a dragon on my back, brass knuckles with fighting Irish on the banner on my chest, and a heart on my stomach. I've got 3 piercings! my tongue, both of my nipples, and two on my ear. I had cartilage ones but they got infected and had to pull them and I also had my belly button but didn't like it as much. I'm saving for a tattoo on my shoulder of a sunflower.

I've taken out a few piercings, either they didn't heal well or became an annoyance. I'm not as into them as I was now.

I love body modification :3 I have my septum pierced and I'm beginning to gauge it, my ears are gauged, and my frenulum is modified/cut ( the skin flap thing under your tongue)! I want to have my tongue spliced in the next year or so, I am going to get each side of my nose re done, my vertical labret is next week, continue gauging my ears and septum (ears are 1/2 goal and septum is a 4 gauge goal) I would like to have my nipples tattooed and pierced by Christmas and my mum is paying for the start of my sleeve on my right arm as my present :3

Wow! Is gauging cartilage the same as say gauging ear lobes? Like...I know past a certain point with gauging they will never shrink back to their normal size but I don't remember what it is - I was just curious if cartilage worked the same. Vertical labrets are very cool looking - I don't know that I could pierce my lip! I had my medusa done several months ago and it is quite possibly the most painful piercing I have ever had done (above and beyond nipple piercing). What's your sleeve of?

I have an ampersand on my right wrist (a matching tattoo with my husband) and on my left wrist I have the word "star-crossed" and the constellations of Pisces and Gemini. I'm a Pisces and three of my partners are Geminis. So was my first ever boyfriend.

 

I'm actually getting some more tattoos on Sunday! Two tiny hearts above my collarbones, a little thunderbolt (partly for Harry Potter, partly for the Italian word for thunderbolt which means soul mates / love at first sight) and a little Jiji from Kiki's Delivery Service.

 

I have my earlobes pierced twice, a VCH and a belly button piercing. My VCH is my favourite, I adore it! I don't have plans for any more piercings.

I don't have any tattoos yet but the first one I want is a seven point star with a 2-tone blue ribbon at the center and a fractured DNA helix woven through it. The second would be a visual representation of the poem "Still I Rise".

It's Clouds buster sword from Kingdom Hearts. The bandaged up one he usesaid in that series. It's mostly black and white with some whites to highlight. Big fan of it.

Tragus, 9 lobe holes, cartilage, industrial, nose, lip, double forward helix, belly button, rook

Only ones I still wear in regularly are my nose and belly button.

I have 4 tattoos. They all have a handful of meaning to me.

I have a cross on the back of my neck (the placement is he most significant part of that tattoo)

A red umbrella on my ankle (for one of my favorite bands Mayday Parade)

a quote on my thigh "your value doesn't decrease based on someone's inability to see your worth"

and 5 chevron arrows on my forearm (for One Direction, if you're familiar with them one of the band members (Liam) has the same one with 4)

Very nice! I've had a total of 25. I took out my eyebrow, my nipples and my belly button. Now I'm down to 21.

Really? I would have imagined it to be quite painful. Although my nipples didn't hurt as much as I'd have imagined. The most painful one I've done is my medusa (right under my nose) *most people ask me what it is, sorry in advance if you knew* it did heal very quickly and easily, but hurt like a sonofabitch. Least painful, my tragus...ohh that gives me an idea for this thread....

Im interested to see how everyone's pain tolerance differs when it comes to body mods...I'm going to list my experiences from least to most pain. Feel free to list yours!

 

Piercings: tragus, lobes, tongue, belly button, nose, cartilage at the bottom, middle, upper ears, nipples, industrial, forward helixes, medusa.

 

Tattoo locations: forearms, upper arms, ankles (both outer and inner), top of the foot, calf, chest (around the collar bones), shoulder blades, lower back, down my spine!

The star is a reminder of the person I used to be and also who I want to become. The ribbon is actually an awareness ribbon related to a serious illness I had as a child and the fractured helix is a visible, permanent promise to myself that I'd never let certain past experiences influence or control my life again.

It's just the clit hood that gets pierced and the skin is no thicker than your earlobe! It did hurt but only for a second, and it healed much quicker than my belly button! They're the only two piercings I've had other than my ear lobes.

 

As for tattoos... My wrists were the most painful place. I was nervous about my collarbones, but because my tatts there are so small, my tattoist was able to stretch the skin so the needle wasn't going right over the bone.

I only have one tattoo, so far.. 'love' in Chinese, on my hip. 
Me and Daddy plan on getting feathers on our forearms. A raven feather for him, and a peacock feather for me. 
I'm also want to get a really fancy birdcage, with flowers around it, on my calf.

As for piercings.. I have both sides of my nose, septum, ears, and bellybutton.
I'm planning on gauging my ears soon, but nothing too incredibly big.
I also want to get either my cartilage pierced, or get an industrial piercing.. I haven't decided yet.

I got my first piercing about 5 months ago. From that moment I was hooked (things masochists say lol) I got 2 dermals under my collar bone on Halloween. <3 I adore them and def want more. As far as tattoos I dont have any (yet!) Ive thought a LOT about getting one to honor my inner Little side. I've decided I'm going to do it this year. It'll be small and simple but I want it as a symbol of self respect. <3
