O.B. Posted April 28, 2022 Report Posted April 28, 2022 (edited) I had a pet being bad once and I told her "you have a lot to learn" (we were being playful ofc) and she goes "But you learn from mistakes and how am I suppose to learn if I behave" being cheeky. She was very bratty. I'll admit, caught me off guard. I'm wondering how you would respond to this. If this isn't the right thread please point me in the right direction. Guest Daddylyfe Posted April 28, 2022 Report Posted April 28, 2022 I'd probably say something like, "No, good pets learn from being trained, so we are going to have a sit down and work on a training regiment for you for being such a bad little puppy" Then she would probably be like "But I don't wanna!" And then I'd say "Well then I guess you'll miss out on all the treats and rewards involved..." That really gets their imagination going and makes them more amicable. Yeah sometimes a sub of any kind can catch you of guard, it happens. With experience and advice, it happens less and less though.
O.B. Posted April 29, 2022 Author Report Posted April 29, 2022 Wow yeah that sounds pretty good, thanks. Been into this sort of thing for a long time but never actually dove into it like I have been recently. Been doing alot of reading from this site and any advice definitely helps. 1
Mr. November Posted April 29, 2022 Report Posted April 29, 2022 I'd also sit her down and explain that a "mistake" does not equal "misbehaving." Mistakes are often innocent and may indeed have consequences but you need her to understand you don't expect she will be perfect all of the time. And therefore when she makes an innocent mistake, it is an opportunity to learn from it indeed. Deliberately misbehaving is just brat behavior and can be a learning experience also, but is mostly a communication tool or an agreed/accepted angle of your dynamic together. I'd also let her know she is very clever for her rebuttal (especially if she responds well to praise.) 2
DaddyDomination Posted April 29, 2022 Report Posted April 29, 2022 I've had some act out for attention. Which doesn't really work on Me. If anything it'll get them some attention, they're not in favor of. Many ways to skin a cat, and tame a brat. 1
O.B. Posted April 30, 2022 Author Report Posted April 30, 2022 Thank you all for the responses, you guys are great. I'd also let her know she is very clever for her rebuttal (especially if she responds well to praise.) She's very clever and always scheming something, but praises would melt her almost instantly lol Many ways to skin a cat, and tame a brat. Love it
