When in doubt, thrift it out. I'm cheap and unwilling to spend a ton of money on clothes, so I basically only thrift these days. You can find really good, unique stuff there for a fraction of the price. I don't know if I have a distinct style. I have a pinterest board like everyone else, but I don't feel compelled to replicate the entire thing, if that makes sense? It's more so just for inspiration and because looking at certain images makes me happy. "Little" me tends to like cutesy/kawaii/pastel/girly stuff but I guess that is rather generic. I don't know if that is a style. I haven't gone thrifting in a while, so my Daddy and I will probably go soon for "little" stuff because he likes shopping with me and picking out things for me to wear which I love. I love just sharing that together. I'm also petite enough that I can get away with wearing certain childrens clothing. One time I was thrifting and I didn't even realize that the pink, fluffy jacket I had picked up was for girls and not women until I got home lol.

As for staples, I always think of onesies when I think of "little" staples. Easy and cute to throw on for the laziest of us.

Hi ! *waves*

Do you have a distinct style?

I would say so , yes. There might be days that I wear something I normally wouldn’t just to get out of my comfort zone and try new things. My style 99.9% if the time is like a tomboy/boy from the 90s mixed in with a lot of anime attire. I have a lot of customers tell me that I look like I belong in a Y2K magazine. Lots of baggy sweats too , all different colors or tie dye. Some cute boxers that show cause the sweats are baggy. *chefs kiss* I don’t know why but I basically like to look like a dirty orphan that might cut you.

Do you mix and match?

ABSO FUCKING LUTELY. As stated above , I like to push myself out of my comfort zone sometimes. I typically despise skirts but I’ve recently collected some tennis skorts (shorts built into them) and I’ve actually been liking it. No hassle of having panties and I can still rough house and climb things without worrying about my asshole showing. So , occasionally when I’m feeling feisty I’ll grab a tennis skort and wear it with really baggy anime shirts and some knee highs with some dirty sneakers. Or taking something more feminine like a tank top dress and wearing it with a baseball cap and dirty sneakers. I like confusing people , and people are easily confused. Am I boy ? But I have boobs , oh no people brains can’t process that clothes are just fabric to cover your genitals and nipples XD

What are your favourite staple items for creating a look?

Staple items for me are pretty easy honestly.

- Overalls or overall shorts.

- Anime shirts.

- Neutral colored tennis skort (black white or tan)

- Vans skate shoes. 90% of all of my shoes are Vans. Comfy , cute , and always make me feel little.

- Baseball cap for when my fuzzy hair doesn’t wanna stay down.

- I also wear chinos. If you don’t know what they are they’re basically khakis. I like wearing them slightly baggy with some boxers underneath and pretty much any sweater or shirt will go with them because I buy all my pants in black.

It’s nice to like certain aesthetics , but my biggest advice with fashion is to be comfortable. Even though I’m not girly I’m still in awe of all the cool dresses and Victorian style clothes you’re talking about…. But if I even think about wearing it my body starts to feel itchy. I couldn’t imagine wearing all the layers they do carrying around all those heavy ass fabrics. What if you have to fuckin pee dude ?!

I’m a firm believer that you can still be fashionable while saving money. I ALWAYS hit clearance and sales racks and malls. It might not be your aesthetic , but for *my* specific style I shop at Hot Topic a lot because of the plethora of anime attire they have nowadays. Ross and TJ Maxx as well , I usually head towards the juniors section because it’s geared towards more casual / fashionable rather than old lady business clothes. I actually found ALL of my skorts at Ross , got four of them and paid 30$. Sales , outlets , online sales , there’s always options for finding things it’s just a matter of digging and searching for good prices.

Oooh, rainbow! That reminds me -- I got a pair of pastel rainbow Skechers sneakers somewhat recently. I fell in love with them and couldn't resist! And that was right after I was complaining about how women's shoes are all boring, dull colors and not exciting like the girls' shoes lol.

I also want some overalls which I plan to thrift, just haven't found any yet.

For you , dear Tinkus. (And also anyone who love overalls).

Obviously not all of these are cost effective, but I’m the type of person to keep an item of clothing for YEARS and get the absolute most use out of everything. And even change it up after a couple years. (Cutting overalls into overalls shorts)

Also , food for thought. This girls channel gives me life in dark times. Her aesthetic and fashion sense is beyond my comprehension but she always looks like a fuckin snack and I would eat her up.

Thanks, Monkey.  :)  I like Hot Topic. Going in there and Box Lunch always makes me feel little. And that's true -- if you get a quality piece that's made to last, it would be worth paying more.

And that girl gives good advice in that video.

This thread is making me think of the Kibbe style system which matches you with a style based on your body type and personality essence. In that system, the Ingenue is like the girly "little" style and the Gamine is the tomboyish "little." But it can be fun to look through just for inspiration. And you may already be familiar with the Seasons system that helps you figure out which colors complement best with your coloring. Though people naturally tend to be drawn to the colors that look best on them. All that might give you more of a headache though lol.

Hey, lolita here. ✩ᏊꈍꈊꈍᏊ If you can't decide between the two fashions, then I highly suggest you try out a casual lolita style! Grab yourself a skirt and wear more casual tops with it. If you want to push the lolita look, you can nab yourself some fitting shoes and/or socks, and then you can wear your more pastel gothic tops and accessories. Since casual lolita is basically the lolita's way of wearing their garb out in public without much backlash, it's a lot more forgiving than some of the other styles. XD And just having a skirt and maybe some shoes will help you decide for sure if that fashion really will suit you. Bodyline has some pretty good skirts (last time I checked) for fairly cheap, just as long as you make sure you're buying from their lolita section and not their cosplay section. XD Though I hear their petticoats aren't as great, I have one that works alright since I don't really go anywhere in my clothes.

Everyone else's advice is way better than mine, but as someone who's already struggled with lolita fashion for a while, I thought I might give you what tips I have learned. •v•

Well thank you, I appreciate the advice. Think I will get a few bits and oieces to try and see. I love the skirts so I could try with my cutesy jumper and long socks.

Fanks!!

Of course! I hope you have fun on your journey of discovering your little self. ^^
