1. Mutny says something that I found intriguing. Nefertiti makes a comment about what else she would be doing with her life and Mutny says tending her garden. Seems like two choices completely different but both were equally real possibilities. Have you ever had a moment like that in your life? How do you think Mutny is taking to her new role?

 

2. Nefirtiti seems to be playing a very dangerous game. Do you think she realizes how dangerous?

 

3. At this point the prince seems very enamored by Nefirtiti and she can do no wrong. Do you think it will continue to keep his attention or will it be her undoing?

1. Mutny makes a comment that I found intriguing. Nefertiti makes a comment about what else she would be don't with her life and Mutny says tending her garden. Seems like two choices completely different but both were equally real possibilities. Have you ever had a moment like that in your life? How do you think Mutny is taking to her new role?

 

I forgot about that part. I thought she was at least still able to tend to her garden at the palace, but obviously it can't really be her main focus as her mind has to be focused on political drama.

 

Have I ever had a moment like that in my life? Not really, but I'm also not in some prestigious position like the sister of a queen.

 

I think Mutny feels understandably overwhelmed by her new role. It's a lot to digest. She also feels like she's losing her sister to her new husband, in a way and that's been hard on her. I think she's handling the role as well as she can given her age and the situation, but I think it will ultimately start eating away at her a bit as time goes on. One major thing that she's having a hard time with is the fact that she lied to the prince. Even if she had good intentions. She believes it's wrong to lie and that she'll be punished by her god for it, I guess. That type of cognitive dissonance is eating at her soul. It took a lot for her to do that, but she ultimately chose her sister and her family over her beliefs. I think that one thing was like a loss of innocence for her, so it's a defining moment for her character.

 

 

2. Nefirtiti seems to be playing a very dangerous game. Do you think she realizes how dangerous?

Probably not. But if she does, she doesn't care or grasp the gravity of it all. At least not right now.

 

 

3. At this point the prince seems very enamored by Nefirtiti and she can do no wrong. Do you think it will continue to keep his attention or will it be her undoing?

Only if she continues to outwardly agree with all of his thoughts and stances on things because his ego can't handle any less. I think she's been put in a very difficult position and the queen expects way too much from her like expecting her to completely change her son into a different person or manipulate him like some brilliant master mind. I think it's unrealistic. I empathized with Nefertiti when she said how else was she supposed to gain the prince's favor without outwardly agreeing with him? I was thinking the same thing, because when dealing with a narcissist, that is exactly how you would manipulate one if you had to. You can't disagree with a damn thing they say without them going into a narcissistic rage over it. It sort of feels like a lose-lose situation at this point. She is safe so long as he never catches her in any of her lies, which he probably will at some point, because otherwise there'd be no story/drama.

Yeah, the choice between taking care of my grandparents for as long as I did or just living my own and letting the family figure it out. Eventually I changed options due to taking care of them going so poorly (family was being abusive to me). I wish I had made the choice many years prior and let the family deal with the responsibility as their kids didn't originally want to step up like they should have. As for Mutny, I feel bad for her because I feel like this is not what she really wants, but her love of her family drives her to step up despite her own wishes and dreams. I think she is doing the best she can with what she has, and I was glad she left the Prince's room when the General came by to bring her to dinner knowing that her sister would probably disapprove. It's good that she still sometimes makes choices for herself and not completely bend to her sister's desires and needs.

 

I think Tink is very right in pointing out that it's eating at Mutny. I think she'll continue to do as she needs to for her family, but who knows, maybe it'll become too much and she'll stop supporting Nefertiti and create problems for herself as a result because I think it'd be seen as some kind of betrayal.

I think Nefertiti is so caught up in winning and coming out on top that she's a little reckless and at this juncture doesn't see what she's doing, but I'm honestly not sure what else she could do. I think she is right if she doesn't indulge the Prince that he will turn his attention towards Kiya and she will not be important to him so I don't know where she could find the right balance, but I still believe she is a little naive at this point the kind of damage she might be causing. Hard to say if she'll figure it out later on and if she figures it out too late.

 

3. At this point the prince seems very enamored by Nefirtiti and she can do no wrong. Do you think it will continue to keep his attention or will it be her undoing?

 

I'm not sure if Nefertiti is 100% at the point of being able to do no wrong, but he is highly interested for sure. I think she's still at a dangerous spot where if she made a misstep he'd get paranoid, and I think Kiya still has a chance to step back in. At this rate I think Nefertiti is so focused on coming out on top that she will hold his attention, but I think she's going to take it too far where something bad happens based on supporting him too much and it may or may not be something she can fix or undo.
