questions about the forum

hi, im quite new and i can't quite figure out the message customization gui for posts/signature customization and well, how do you add pictures? I see the little "image" icon with the little green picture in the middle of the menu but imgur doesn't appear to work for a photo URL, how do I make it work? ty
