Space , or ocean ?

...... Hi. *waves*

I. Love. Aliens. (And space).

I also love the ocean.

Both are extremely fucking terrifying , but beautiful.

If you were given the opportunity, would you rather travel through space to discover new things .... or would you rather explore new depths of the ocean ? Which do you find scarier ?

Personally , I would probably pick the ocean. Space terrifies me , but nowhere near as much as what could be in our water and we have no idea. Obviously we don’t know of everything in space either... but for some reason the ocean has always just been so much more intimidating. If something goes wrong , blowing up in space seems to be a much quicker and less painful / anxiety inducing way to die. I couldn’t imagine being dropped to the depths of the ocean , in one of those little subs that have windows you can see out of... watching all these creatures swim by like it’s nothing to them. The ocean is like our own little alien oasis on our planet and personally believe we should spend more time researching what’s here than what’s in space. Also , at least with the ocean if something does go bad... you’re more likely to be saved than out in space.

Which would you choose ?

I think maybe I'd feel more nervous about the ocean because the deeper you go the more pressure you have to deal with. However, space travel is also really hard on the body so I guess it depends on how long this trip would be. I'd love to explore both but would rather see space even more.

i think that the ocean would be fun, though i'm scared of large gaps of open water... but maybe it'd be cool!!

Good question.

Well, death by ocean sounds significantly more painful + there have been a lot more deaths by submarine than space related ones, so I'd say I find the ocean more scary. The initial take off to space seems intense too though but I guess once you're over that hump, it's fine. However, I was too chicken shit to even do the more intense simulation of the space shuttle at Epcot after seeing people barf from it. I'm not even the type to get sick on rides but I'm easily psyched out. So, I guess I fail at being counter phobic here and would go with space though I think I'd make a terrible astronaut. But I think I'd find space more interesting anyway even though the ocean is fascinating as well.

i cant choose! i would do both. the idea of no human made sounds in general sounds peaceful. both sea animal sounds and the quietness of space (apart from what might be considered alien) sounds peaceful and fun. floating around....

I would rather be ON the ocean than in space, but I'd rather be in space than deep in the ocean. The idea of having the ocean all around me and pushing onto me is scary.

i've studied far to much of space not to pick it in a heartbeat, to be able to see a gas giant with my own eyes that would be pretty neato

also a black hole has a uniquely morbid interest for me i would not mind being able to see one even from a safe distance

at the end of the day life deep in the trenches is not as different to life in space its still weeks or months in close proximity with your crew there have been comparisons so the training it would take to be posted on a submarine being comparable to the skills one may need to travel space, not to mention the understanding of mathematics and physics to be a contributing member of the crew of a space faring vessel

gimme space any time every day

I. JUST. CAN'T. CHOOSE!!!!  :D  I am fascinated by Space and I want to believe!!! (Sorry, that was a reference for the X-Files fans out there) but.... I was born and raised by the ocean and spending one single day away from the iodine salty fresh breeze we always have here in my town, I feel like a dried-out starfish lost in the middle of the Gobi desert during a heatwave. This being said, traveling on the ocean is WAY more scarier to me than Space, just because I am aware of the danger. I just can't choose...

Mmmh. Okay. I would still go with the Ocean.
