I have strong dom/caregiving/protector/provider instincts but more outlandish aspects of ageplay are not for me. Like, I like taking care of a girl and being in charge, but some of the other aspects of the kink sometimes seem too much. Am I in good company here?

People are different and like different things and parts of the kink. I love being taken cared and being dominated but would gringe with ageplay. Just cherry pick the things you like and don't try to force yourself into boxes you don't feel comfortable being. We are people who are complex, not just easily defined tags

I don't think you're alone. There are definitely parts of the kink I'm not into myself, and I've seen other people express the same. Everyone is different like baby_k said, so you'll find people all over the spectrum.

You are definitely not alone. You might be more interested in the Daddy/babygirl type relationship ... (note, that I'm not making assumptions about your sexuality or gender pronouns here ... you just didn't give me any info and there aren't good 'neutral words' here ... so whatever your pronouns/sexuality ... just substitute my labels for yours ) ... my point is that Daddy/babygirl is very similar to the DDlg relationship but has no ageplay elements and often has far less bdsm/kink elements as well ... typically, me and my girl are more Daddy/babygirl than DDlg ... as she is only a little SOMETIMES ... but she is a babygirl all the time ...
