DaddysMonkey Posted March 24, 2021 Report Posted March 24, 2021 ...... Hi. *waves* I think a lot about zombie apocalyptic disorder , civil wars happening , the world ending in general or other various emergencies that would cause you to have to pick up and leave immediately. (No I’m not watching too much Walking Dead!) I live really close to a mountain , so I’m always wondering when the next time it will chose to erupt. If that was the case , I would have to leave my home immediately. So my question today is , say there was a zombie apocalypse.... civil war , natural disaster. Something world changing happens , and you have to pick up and start running to safety.... What FIVE items are you grabbing as fast as you can before you leave your home and why ? (Your car is a given item so don’t count it as one of your five.) What is something you would be forced to leave behind that would upset you , but you gotta do what you gotta do ? 1. Cell phone. Even if the lines go down eventually , or the world is ending so all service ends.. you would still have a window before it all shuts off. I would call three specific people and tell them to meet me at our safe spot for emergencies such as this. (Yes I’m crazy and prep for the ones close to me.) Even a couple minutes before all service shuts down would be enough , and some helpful phone apps don’t need service to run like a compass , measuring features , ect. 2. My knife. A lot of people would think to grab a gun , but if zombies are running around I would want to make the least amount of noise possible. During world ending disasters , guns are some of the first things people start hunting for and hoarding. I want one less target on my back. I’ll keep my knife. 3. My water bottle that has a filter system inside of it. If the world is ending , you’ll need filtered water somehow. And I don’t expect other survivors to be super kind to strangers... think of Neegan from Walking Dead. Think he’s just going to give you water for free ? Don’t think so. 4. My fuckin bras. I can’t tell you how many zombie , natural disaster, or end of the world movies and shows I’ve watched.... but one thought always comes into my mind , WHERE AND HOW ARE THEY GETTING THEIR BRAS ?! As someone that has bigger boobs , sorry but I’m packing all my sports bras and bras. I refuse to run away from zombies or killer groups without a fuckin bra. Not happening. I’ll specifically make room in my back pack for my bras ^-^ 5. Packs of different sized batteries. This might sound a little weird , but if it’s the end of the world zombies or not... eventually power will be shut down. Instead of having a single flashlight where the batteries will probably die , I would rather have batteries. I’m the type of person that would travel alone or have a tiny group that separated for extended times and came back together to check up and trade items. I would search abandoned homes and stores for flashlights and more batteries. One would say , oh but you could’ve just taken batteries from the store too! Batteries would be one of the most “stolen” items in my opinion. So there might not be many left , but if I have a gang of them in my backpack all I have to worry about is finding the items that need the batteries. Which leaves me with more room to search for things instead of searching for batteries as well. Batteries can also make decent bombs in emergencies.... I work in a Vape shop. I’ve seen plenty of batteries explode to know this. Lol Man.... as fucked up and sad as it is... I would have to leave my cats behind. They wouldn’t follow you like a dog would. They would be two more mouths to feed and lives to protect.. I wouldn’t chance my survival because I love my two cats. Wild animals are wild animals I guess... I would be super depressed but I would set my cats free. Even saying that makes me feel like a piece of shit , but it is what it is. Thanks in advance for anyone who joins the conversation.
Guest Hero_Yuri Posted March 24, 2021 Report Posted March 24, 2021 You post some good stuff ^-^ So, this is what I got. 1. my sword, yes I have a sword. It is the replica of the king from lord of the rings lol. 2. Water filters; I doubt I am gonna be out and about in the forest till a bit later, so having a source of clean drinking water is great. 3, 4 Survival tactical backpack and stuffing that thing with every bit of food I can. Let's be honest, we seen all types of movies and when this type of stuff goes down you have no food or water, but the MC always survives for days by pure luck or because plot armor. I Don't got that plot armor my dudes. 5. Phone; it is just way to useful for many reasons. Going to be looking up every single thing I can when needed. So stuff I will miss a lot but have to bail on and it is gonna hurt. My pets and my computer; yeah I basically feel the same on the whole pet thing, as for my computer idk what to say besides I am a hardcore nerd lol.
Vampiress Posted March 24, 2021 Report Posted March 24, 2021 Trigger Warning: Self-harm Reveal hidden contents Honestly, this whole thing scares the shit out of me in a real life context if it were possible (the movies don't really bother me). The whole idea of zombies and stuff like that would get to me way too much. Realistically, I don't think I have the survival skills or the mental fortitude to handle this. I'd probably let my dog loose because he has high prey drive and I am pretty sure he could survive on his own, and then I'd probably take my own life. I'd rather do that than suffer being eaten to death or being bitten and becoming one later. It's a really grim answer but if I said anything else I'd just be bullshitting.
Guest Teasing Tink Posted March 24, 2021 Report Posted March 24, 2021 (edited) Well, we all know the holy grail of items in a crisis situation is toilet paper, so all five of my items would be dedicated to that precious resource. Lol, jokes aside, it's hard to decide but..here are mine: 1. The best guide book on survival since I need all the help I can get lol. Also anticipating no internet to research. 2. Either seeds to grow food or a hydroponics kit or something so I can grow food because continually hunting for canned food isn't sustainable. I'm not sure which type of food. Probably potatoes since I think you can survive off of them if you had to. Also, I don't have a green thumb at all so hopefully that survival book could give me some tips lol. 3. Maybe some water purification tablets because I don't want to dehydrate. Also necessary for hydroponics system. 4. A solar flashlight -- won't run out of battery power as quickly. Or maybe I should bring a space blanket with me instead in case it gets really cold. 5. If it's a zombie apocalypse, then maybe my weapon of choice would be a spear or a sword because they have reach. If not, then I guess a gun or a knife. Probably a good multi-use knife since it wouldn't run out of bullets. Do we get a backpack to put all our stuff in? What about clothes? I guess the most important thing is good footwear. I'm not sure what I would be upset about leaving behind since I'm not a materialistic person. Probably one of the survival items I decided not to take with me when I later find out it would have been more useful lol. I didn't add my pets to the list because I consider them my babies and not things. I don't think I'd be willing to abandon them since they're so reliant on me. I'd want to protect them. I don't see anything wrong with setting them free though if they can fend for themselves. I guess I would see how it went. In a non zombie apocalypse, I'd say I'd definitely be taking them with me. Other than that, I guess I'd miss my cell phone but if it was gonna die anyway, oh well. And I didn't take a map because I have no sense of direction/good map reading skills anyway lol.
