Guest Bashful_Flower218 Posted March 11, 2021 Report Posted March 11, 2021 I grew up in the 80s and 90s and sometimes I miss this time era so much. I recently cried a few weeks ago about it. I collect a lot of toys from this time era too. I absolutely love 80s and 90s toys, cartoons, movies and dress up in that era. I started to collect lots of jewelry and wear lots of pastel pinks and neon colors. I feel like I am an 80s and 90s baby girl at heart. It makes me feel more like a little when I am in this time space the most. Even the hair accessories and clothes. I own so many bows, hair clips and earrings. I mostly buy them from etsy. I've discovered this about myself this year and it makes me feel so happy whenever I'm dressing up and going out. I even own a cute my little pony purse. I'll share the stuff sometime soon. And I do own lots of 80s my little ponies. 3
Lollipox Posted March 11, 2021 Report Posted March 11, 2021 Dude, did you draw that lil anime girl? And I rly like older cartoons from 80s & 90s, I don't remember the music as much. I was never fashionable ^^" I just wore whatever the heck I wanted. But it reminds me of tartan pinafores, semi-turtleneck shirts, lace cuff socks, and so on. I like my little pony, rainbow brite, strawberry shortcake, ninja turtles, animals of farthing wood. I wouldn't specifically say that I like 80s-90s the most. But I do like older cartoons, animated movies and clothing from various time periods. ^^ And Sea Monkeys!
Vampiress Posted March 12, 2021 Report Posted March 12, 2021 I just posted a status recently about missing everything 90s! I'm more of a 90s than an 80s little, but I do collect toys from both time periods. I also like older vintage toys even before that time, it just depends on what it is... but the 90s will always have my heart! I really want to get even more into collecting Barbies and getting all the ones I used to have and ones I remember wanting that my family never got me. There's this toy seller I buy stuff from almost weekly that sells vintage toys and they really fuel my love of older toys. I've also been watching some 90s stuff like the X-men cartoon from the early 90s, the New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Outlaw Star (anime). I also watched Pocahontas who is my favorite Disney Princess. I have lots of 90s music on my Spotify playlist. If time machines were real I could happily just exist in the 90s forever.
Lili_Night Posted March 12, 2021 Report Posted March 12, 2021 90's kid here. I love watching shows from the 90's and early 2000's. Outlaw Star was a great anime.
LittleTeacup Posted March 12, 2021 Report Posted March 12, 2021 I was born in 91 and sometimes I think my brain is still stuck in the 90s Like to this day I still cannot figure out the flatscreen tv remotes my parents upgraded to like 14 years ago. I don't like newer movies or tv shows generally. The main issue is increased special effects and more technology to film differently. It's too realistic for me. Too realistic and too violent. I would choose an 80s or 90s family movie any day. I also like vintage stuff and plan to fill my home one day with quality non-plastic items. No internet connected coffee makers or anything stupid like that. No robots. I might install an old phone too. Any Disney movie that came out 1998 or later I still think is "new" Totally offended they stopped making hand drawn 2-d movies. I'm not a fan of cgi. And don't get me started on my opinions of laptops in schools for kids. Or the age at which they get cellphones. And apparently using your cellphone in school is normal now????????? I cannot comprehend. The good thing is I can still talk to kids about Pokemon!!! I just have to stick to first and second gen because they start naming pokemon I've never heard of.
Guest Teasing Tink Posted March 12, 2021 Report Posted March 12, 2021 (edited) I think it's great that you're reuniting yourself with stuff from that era. Whatever takes you to your happy place. I was born in 88, so I grew up in the 90s and am partial to 90s things. I used to be apart of a childhood toys forum years ago which I initially joined to find an older toy as a gift for my niece. I also joined a my little pony forum briefly even though I never really had My Little Ponies growing up (though I did like them). I liked that they came out with remakes of the older versions of them a few years ago so I could get my favorite ones. I like how the older ones look much more than the newer ones. I also love barbies and have a mini collection of them. I always preferred the way most of the 90s barbies looked over the more modern ones with their excessive makeup. So I have a lot of 90s barbies. My other favorite dolls from the 90s were those cupcake dolls. They have modern ones now but I don't really like them. I had Cherry Chip. She was my favorite but I lost her when my parents moved once. I did get her again as an adult which I found through the my little pony forum, I believe. I also liked Sky Dancers (much more than the ones they have now) and Polly Pockets. And there were these dolls inside these snow globes which I just loved the concept of that and mermaid dolls you played with in the bath. I can't remember what they're called now. Oh, and those Ice Tickle Bears! And puppy/kitten surprises which I love that they remade those and they're awesome. I got a Kitty Surprise since I just had the Puppy Surprise as a kid. I had a barbie game from the 90's that I loved and a Lady Lovely Locks Seek and Find board game which I'd like to get again some day. Of course I have favorite 90s shows/cartoons that I grew up with and still love like Rugrats, Doug, Hey Arnold, Ghost Writer, Are You Afraid of the Dark? etc. There's a TV series on Netflix called Creeped out which kind of reminds me of Are You Afraid of the Dark? actually and I like it partially for that reason. It's targeted to kids too. Made me feel little again. Edited March 12, 2021 by Teasing Tink
Vampiress Posted March 12, 2021 Report Posted March 12, 2021 Vampy, watching the 90s X-Men cartoons are one of my earliest + fondest memories!!! My brother had a home-taped copy of the Wolverine backstory arc. So glad they got a shoutout. ^-^ I'm a 90s kid, and have been thinking about Pogs a lot recently. Definitely love the style, but was a little too young to fully engage (born in '90.). But my Mommy has noted that I do tend to love the sexier/pornier makeups looks from the time that she wears, lol. 90s X-men was the best. Love Rogue, Gambit, and Storm. They weren't as cool in the live action movies. Pogssss. I have some pogs! Those were the coolest, I want to find some more.
EternalMelody Posted March 12, 2021 Report Posted March 12, 2021 90's kid here. I love watching shows from the 90's and early 2000's. Outlaw Star was a great anime. I'm a 90's kid as well and absolutely LOVE Outlaw Sta! Aisha Clan-Clan was my favorite character 1
DaddysMonkey Posted March 12, 2021 Report Posted March 12, 2021 *raises hand* Very much a 90s baby. My step dad was only eight years older than me , so even though I was born in 93 my step dad very heavily influenced my appreciation for all things 80s and 90s. Specifically all the Back to the Future movies and The Labyrinth. Major appreciation for David Bowie. Lisa Frank , Wild Kratt brothers and Zaboomafu (sp?) , big comfy couch , rugrats, cat dog , courage the cowardly dog , invader zim, we are monsters. I feel you on the crying dude , I can’t tell you how many days I’ve thought about my childhood and the past and how different the 80s and 90s were before social media became so giant and toxic. Summertimes filled with rollerblading , no Facebook or Instagram , making friends in real life , getting knees scraped up from climbing trees. *sigh* The past is always better friend. I’m constantly living my life like a 90s movie. 2
LeftyGuitar Posted March 12, 2021 Report Posted March 12, 2021 (edited) 80/90s kid here. I love retro video games from the 80s and 90s. I also love 90s cartoons. Especially Nick during that time. Rocko's Modern Life and Ren and Stimpy. Can't forget Rugrats and Angry Beavers. I also miss pre 9/11 life in general. Fox Kids was awesome. Life before social media and cell phones/smart phones, what a time to be alive. Remember dial-up? The sound it would make. Lots of good memories. I almost TMNT, the toys, so many different toys of TMNT. EDIT: I forgot about the snacks. Dunk-A-Roos! They said they were bringing them back in 2020, but I haven't seen them anywhere I live. They were good. Also, those squeeze-it things were good too. Edited March 13, 2021 by LeftyGuitar

Only time I ever see them is online for exorbitant prices because there is more demand than supply. 1
Guest Exi Posted March 13, 2021 Report Posted March 13, 2021 I'm a 90's kid through and through. I wish the fashion would come back, like jnco's and kandi bracelets. I'd look like a walking Delia's catalog even though I'm super old for it with no regrets. If you are on the hunt for Dunk-A-Roos I'd say try your local dollar tree (if you have one), they sometimes have them! 1
Guest Little_Laney Posted March 23, 2021 Report Posted March 23, 2021 I'm a 90s kid too!! I think we're very lucky to grow up in the generation that we did. Life was pretty awesome in the 90s. Like it was said, if there was a time machine, I would so go back and relive those days. Heck, maybe I would be able to bring my kids and raise them in that time period instead of now. 1
DollhouseUnicorn Posted March 27, 2021 Report Posted March 27, 2021 Love the 80s and 90s. I collect toys!
Little Kitteh Posted April 11, 2021 Report Posted April 11, 2021 70s, 80's kid here. I have recently been buying barbies and other dolls from my childhood and some new ones. I watch many cartoons from the 70's and 80's and some family evening tv. I have been wanting to get some Strawberry Shortcake dolls from the 80's, I have one I bought from a flea market a few years back but I would love to get some more. I want to get my hands on some Monchhichi dolls too. They were little monkeys that had their thumb in their mouth and they were so cute, I have one from my childhood but would like to find more. I have seen some remakes but their faces are not the same as I liked before. I have adult kids and I remember their toys in the 90's and I want to collect some of them. I played a lot of video games on consoles and went to the arcades in the 80's but I don't really care for those types of games anymore so I stick with the mid 90's to now for my games.
Vampiress Posted April 13, 2021 Report Posted April 13, 2021 Saw this today and thought of this thread. lol. 2
